not able to log in?

Post by The Constrainer » Wed Oct 22, 2003 7:39 pm

Anyone else not able to log into any server? I get the message that the server is timed out just as I do when the servers are down. I have been trying for 20mins now while refreshing the server status page and I see people logging off of the server and ones who are still on so the server isnt down what is up?

EDIT update its almost been an hour now and I do not know why I can't log in. Everyone else seems to be able to due to the lack of response I have gotten to this post. I was logged in just yesterday I am baffled and have no idea what is going on any help would be appricated.

I've been getting that on occasion. I think it is attributed to the lag that all the servers are experiencing. Even the server status page is affected (it listed Wilderness as Down) so I figured it had crashed or something, then when I logged in all my map trails were still there, so it hadn't crashed, just lagged out the query or something.

I had this same problem last night. I was trying to login to Elysia where I was the night before. I ended up having to loging to the Wilds, Elysia just kept timing out. :(

I think the server status page has been that way since it changed to only showing the number of people online instead of the names. Its always behind where as before I knew exactly when servers crashed by looking at it.

Maybe lag could be the reason I can't log in but I would think others would have the same problem right now if I do. I have a cable modem here so its not due to internet speed here. Has lag been horrid on the servers today?

I don't know what, for sure, is causing the lag yet, but I can tell you that the servers don't respond to any network requests when they are in the midst of one of the now infamous lag spurts. Don't wait after trying to connect and failing, just click cancel after it's paused for 5 seconds and try again immediately. If you kick back and 'give it a few' it's just as likely that you're trying to connect during another bad spot.

the server status page no longer shows a live status. It is a time delayed snapshot.

I have tryed this and still can't log in. I have tryed at different times and all different servers. I don't think it my problem because I can connect to other worlds. I have two computers hooked up to a network and both are having to same problem connecting to Avlis. It doesnt make sense?

The problem with immediately reconnecting and ?kicking back and hanging on? is that if you are performing this action while the mod is loading/reloading it puts a great deal of strain on the server as a whole and dramatically increases load times.

I'm suffering the same problem, all the Avlis servers won't connect. I can't even see them up. Every other server I frequent now and then is working fine.

I have been getting this on and off all this week. Also, when I try going in through the Multiplayer option in NWN, I get no servers at all in the display. I mean none at all, not just missing the Avlis ones.

Direct Connect to Travellers works fine.

My Shortcuts to Avlis servers usually work.

The only problem (most of the time) is that I have to know the details of the server, as I do not get any listed.

I have never seen this problem until this week.

Nothing has changed on my PC except for a couple of Windows Updates and the usual Anti-Virus updates. My Firewall has not changed, nor has NWN.
Life is never as bad as you think it is, although that doesn't help at the time.

I am having problems like this for every single server I try, avlis or not. IT does it seemingly at random though. Earlier yesterday, I could not conect, later on I could, and right now, I cant!

This is different from my what was happening to me. It was only Avlis that I couldnt connect to so I knew it was not a problem on my end. It sounds like it could be a problem on your end. What type of internet connection do you have? Give me more detail if you could.
