Dwarves for deglos

Post by Brannor » Sat Oct 04, 2003 11:02 pm

Hi,

some RL friends of mine have showed interrest in avlis and have asked me if a *migration* of their chars would work in the avlisian world.

One of them is a battle-wranger, the other a vermin slayer.
Both chars from the Cbod.

Since they are dwarf lovers and my RL friends I want to join them.
I have been playing with the idea of some kinda char that is more intoned to the earth/rock.
Would an avlis god fit that profile?

Or would he be more a deep druid?

Thanks for the info.

Let me rephrase it:

One char plays a battle-wranger type char.
i.e. a barb with a limited weapon selection.
The other a vermin-slayer type char.
Fighter / thief specialized in hunting down vermin.

I did not mean any kinda prestige classes or like.
Neither did I mean to have them pre-pushed.

I'd imagine more like a ranger/rogue, for the Favored Enemy. Cool character idea... and a good excuse to go after fire beatles. "Oi 'ate them bugs!"

Well if he takes the ranger then there is no need for a rogue.
The ranger can take most skills a rogue can.
The extra points a rogue gets would imho be no less the Metagaming since he is only taking a class due to the extra benefits that do not fit a char.

Thanks for the answer.
I will pass it on.

I would think that rogue would fit fine since rogues are more suited to the urban environment that a rat catcher would be running around in. It might be metagaming, but not powergaming.

If the *area* in which a vermin hunter were a city then yeah.
But the vermin hunter's hunting ground is in the caves.
It is not my call.
But this is my old pnp guy's I used to DM for and they ask me for help.
And I was a bitch DM.

I don't see a problem with characters tailoring their skills to suit a certian purpose. I also don't have a problem with an *occasional* off-world character, ala planar travel. The problem was when we had hoardes of them.

The good thing about off-world dwarves is that very soon you will be able to base your character in Rockholm which is a PW that will link with us.

@Orl:
Well they are not really offworlders.
They just focus their chars on 2nd edition prestige classes.
And I have no idea if that is ok with you.
I don't wanna go over your head here.

I made sure that they knew that any pnp prestige class they take is nothing more then a template here.

If you are interrested I can have them write a short essay on the prestige classes.
(fyi the battle-ranger was the dwarf with the spiky armor in Salvatores Drow Novels)

Out of interrest, where is this Rockholm located, server wise?

It's a CoPaP world, which will be linked to us in due time. As with the other linkups the location of the portal there will be revealed IC through its own plotline.
So much fun,
yet so little time to enjoy it.
