My playlist generator keeps tossing this one in mine lately, and if you had asked me 4 or 5 years ago, I'd have called it one of my theme songs. Not so much these days with recent *coughs* improvements to my life, but it is still a fun, toe-tapping summer song. Besides, I'm a big fan.

We've been going through somewhat of an Enya binge-fest here over the last week, so I figured I'd share a bit from her last album.

Enya - Even In The Shadows

She still looks and sounds amazing for someone older than me (all women stop aging at 25 according to my mother), has more money than I'd ever know what to do with, without doing concert tours, and lives in a castle (she also has at least one other house, but castle sounds better). Sounds like she'd fit in here.

Because it is both funny now and nostalgic from way back when.....

There are a lot of old songs I've listened to before, but never really paid that much attention to the lyrics. This is one that I finally really listened to tonight, and I was pretty amazed how close to home it hits (yeah, I know... mushy stuff). :)

Something old and something new (Dido finds her way into playlists here pretty often)
Hunter (Live at Brixton Academy) and
Give You Up
The last one is from her album this year. She's only a few years younger than me, and definitely looks (and sounds) better. :grandpa:

If you leave a pair of 80's and 90's synth-pop junkies home alone together, you shouldn't be surprised at what you hear (or see) when you walk in the door.

Just sayin... 8-)

One of my favorite "Old Fart" artists to watch when he tours this way, which he does frequently. He can still hit the high notes from the Supertramp days, but his solo stuff is worth a listen to if you have the time.

Had the urge to double post after a certain RK in chat kept complaining about work and life suckage all the time, and recent chat stuff with Hamlet (heh)... This is for the Kassha player in all of us.

Work sucks, so deal with it whatever way you can (80's Slugcology!)

Even tweaked my sig a bit on a whim, after so many people asked about a certain theme song here.

I'm not usually a big fan of cover songs, but this one ain't bad.

Canyon Spells w/ Phox - Amy Hit The Atmosphere (Counting Crows cover)

Got hooked on the Crows because of this song during a 3 season marathon of Roswell one summer while on campus at a beautiful local university (the girls running the dorm during the summer were why I was watching it... and don't ask about my "Sex and the City" familiarity  ).

I'm getting laughed at (in a loving way, of course) for spamming this topic recently, and it has been suggested that I toss up something less random and go with my favorites.

I tell people I don't have a single favorite artist or band, but that isn't true when I really think about it. I love good song writing, great singing and really love amazing piano players. While I can think of a few that fit all of those criteria (some personally), one always stands out as my first and best pick, since I heard him on the radio in my Dad's T-Bird as a young teen singing Crocodile Rock (and I'm betting fans thank the fact that most of his lyrics were written by another amazing artist if they've ever listened to stuff he's tried writing on his own  ).

Sir Elton John (yup, he's been knighted) is filthy rich, and doing his final tour slowly, taking years to finish across the globe, though he keeps adding more years to it (I get to see him here just before a trip south next month... like a few hours before heading to the airport, but no way we are missing it :reden: ). He's got more hits than I can remember, but there are a few songs that are more speshul here. One being something about how I got so happy while I was away, but you don't get that one *Spoilerz*

You get a song that I get laughed at for because I can't even come close to playing it on my little 64 key KB here, but I keep trying (and swearing, which causes the laughter). There are better quality videos and versions around, but not many with him doing the full range of keys he uses in some versions (without even caring about what his fingers are doing), so you'll have to put up with a crappy old YouTube capture clip. It isn't a pretty song, and is quite depressing (morbid in fact), but I hardly even heard the words the first time I listened to the album.

Elton John - Ticking - Live in Baltimore 1999

This topic is like an addiction. Finding Youtube stuff to go with songs you listen to is kinda fun too, though most are dismal quality wannabe things.

One day we can share...

Until then, have a bit more remake fun (no clue if they made real vids, so just the music).

You And Your Sister

I've been a fan of "This Mortal Coil" since a drunken night when I was (very much) younger and I met one of my best friends who let me crash at his place, and tossed on some older coil stuff for me to absorb (and pass out to, since I was a bit of a nuisance while awake). They do all sorts of remakes and new things by folks, but they have gained notoriety for female singers who do a lot of songs (sorta Deliriumish that way). They released a bunch of the original songs they cover in deluxe stuff, so pay for the old fart music if you bother buying any of it. The old artists are amazing in their own.
