Re: Deider!
Great work on today's episode! Those Dwarves portalling in and regular NPCs joining us with their own battleplans and personalities really makes a plot come alive!

I don't know how you're managing 50 or so PCS and this plot and make it look easy, but I'm duly impressed!! (And having a rocking good time)

Re: Deider!
Big YARR for Deider, not just for his DM work but also for the lot of coding and fixing stuff he does behind the dm screen.

Re: Deider!
HUZZAH for Deider, even if he made Ra-Ghul into a big Blue Orc and made him look like a big frikkin GIT. MY PC thinks it was Valok and that is what he is sticking with. So There ! But Deider does a lot of work both behind and in front of the curtain. So thanks Deider.

Re: Deider!
I've raved Deider before, but I want to expand on what I appreciate about him as a DM.
First, whether as part of a longstanding plot or a one-off, his NPCs have depth. Their personalities are radically distinct from one another, they're usually based deep in Avlis lore (or will become a part of it), and they always keep you on your toes. There's rarely a sense of them just playing a role in a story, and the antagonists are just as clever and nuanced as the "good guys."
Second, his responses to PMs and in-character posts are quick, consistent, and often lead you to learn something about Avlissian history. When he doesn't have an answer offhand, he comes up with something that makes sense, even if it doesn't answer your question.
Third, he has a bizarre understanding of your characters' backgrounds and motivations. Granted, in his most recent plot you had to submit a bit of your character's background for him, but once he has that he really adds flesh to the skeleton. And that background comes to play a role not only in the plot you're in, but helps shape your understanding of your character and often gives you an impetus to go forward. At least that was the case with Thom.
And last but not least, he has a terrific sense of humor. That can be all the difference between taking things too seriously and just allowing yourself to have a good time. You never know what you're about to read as speech or an emote!
So three cheers for this fellow, and welcome back!

Re: Deider!
Deider recently posted a thread about an idea I had about getting xp for class skills, which the team and himself decided no. So why am I raving about it and Deider? Because they put the idea out there, took discussion, gave opinions, listened to input, and made decisions. I feel like recently there has been a very transparent and involved process in the changes being made and I cannot tell you how much as a player I enjoy that.
