faction questions

Post by The Constrainer » Thu Sep 04, 2003 12:19 am

Is it possable to have creatures that are normally hostile to PCs become friendly based on alignment or an item in thier possesion and the same for the opposite? I was thinking about all the neat rp this would create. Maybe if your a well known villian good city guards in Elysia and LeOr would be hostile and maybe an evil place like the forest of Midnight or some other evil place would become friendly. Just a thought, I would like to hear what any of you think about somthing like this.

On Avlis, unless they wanted to re-do a bunch of creatures, they'd have trouble, as a lot of creatures are faction "hostile".

I believe there is a way to do it, though I haven't done it myself.

It is possible to script a change in how a faction regards a certain PC. Not sure if the team would want to do this, but it would be interesting. I think places like the FoM are considered "Hostile to all who enter". The vamps and whatnot don't care if you're some nasty bad guy, they still want you dead!

For less-deadly places, this might be feasible.

Well what if you play your character as a fallen Elyiasian who lives in the forest of midnight and is a pawn of the evil there? Or lets say for a custom race like an orge could live with the giants and orges and not be forced to play an outcast of the normal orge role. Wouldn't it be interesting if PCs were playing oppossing sides in places there are normally only NPC hostiles? You would no longer need ( though it would help) a DM to rp a little at a place like the hills if there were enough PCs that played custom races that are commonly hostile. But for this to happen the PC would have to be friendly with the hostile orgs and giants in the hills. Just thinking what thoughts do you guys have about this?
