Announcing: Avlis Pre-Mort System
Do you wish your character was older? Wiser? Had more hair?
You know that the Avlis team has diligently upheld the Pregnancy rules*(1) because of the complications they can cause downstream. But because we're always looking for new ways for our players to have fun, we're taking you upstream!
Similar to the current Remort system, the Pre-mort system allows you to permanently retire your existing character so you can play your own Grandfather*(2) (or Grandmother).
If you choose Pre-mort Option 1, any gear your character had becomes a retroactive*(3) family heirloom. You will wield it, and it will have found it's way into your previous characters hands through their heroic deeds. The same with properties.
If you choose Pre-mort Option 2, you can customize new gear that retroactively becomes legend in your family line. Sadly lost in your tragic demise*(4) (or clutched close to the chest if you're a longer-lived race) these items never managed to find their way to your future (past character) heirs.
We have decided to skip a generation*(5) so there's not as much concern about running into other characters who might expect you to know too much about your downstream character. Sure, you know some little rascal from your family has been running around, maybe even saving the world, but in your day you had to save the world barefoot... in the snow... uphill!
So, if you want to make an impact on the world by adventuring bravely, and eventually siring or birthing the person who would sire or birth another brave adventurer, email the team about Pre-morting your character today!
*(1) - Pregnancy rules are still in effect. You cannot get pregnant while playing this character.
*(2) - Suicide conundrums will be retconned by the team.
*(3) - Retroactive heirlooms may not be directly referenced as such. However, you can indirectly indicate that you hope your magnificent item will one day serve your posterity as well as it has yourself.
*(4) - Demise does not have to be tragic.
*(5) - Elves, Avariel, Sereg, Dwarves, some Orcs, maybe the occasional Halfling will break the mold for generational overlap, no cheesing!
*(6) - April Fool's. Sorry that it was posted late. According to my timestamp, it came in right under the wire.

Oh, this is wonderful! I have the whole story already mapped out in a comprehensive storyline as well as spreadsheet form! And the detailed description for the item is not too long, at least not in Tolstoyan measurement. I only need to know where to submit my request, compiled into a .rar of course, (cause I know how the team likes .rar!)

Re: (5). If I play the elven family side of a half-elf child, does it mean I can be my own parent? Knowing how I die finally, before it happened, would be cool!

After six years here I can now say I caught the annual April Fool's at the subject line.

Re: Announcing: Avlis Pre-Mort System
An awesome faux-news post for April Fool's would be to say that the US Government was changing April Fool's Day to the 2nd! As part of sequester financing, or energy savings, or further distinguishing US culture from its British roots, or...
