First, nice redesign! I'm really looking forward to exploring my new Elysia. Please understand that this statement is the most important part of this post!!

Second, why is the Warehouse district so far from the docks, trades, and markets? From a logistics perspective, this makes no sense to me. Especially since all the traffic from the docks to the Warehouse district, and from the Warehouse district to the trades and markets would have to go through the Northern Residences.

I know cities don't always grow in a sensible manner, but I'd be inclined to swap the Northern Residences and Warehouse districts. The warehouses would still be across the city from the market, but at least they'd be near the wharves and nearer the Trades district.

Are the Elysian sewer system, and any other tunnels that may, or may not exist, under the city, being revamped as well?

Thanks for the redesign! :D

Actually a city designer would put the warehouse district where it is. Storage is suppose to be away from main traffic points so it is more easily guarded. The only thing I would like to see is one large path through both residences that you could easily see used for horse carts pulling things to and from the warehouse district.

The other thing I think a warehouse district would likely have would be direct access to the outside, rather than access only through residential districts.

I think I can safely state that the sewers have been thoroughly tested to ensure logical connections to the areas above :)

I can't really comment about the warehouses & other design features, (am just a lowly tester me!) but my thoughts are that the Warehouse district serves as a holding point for trade goods from T'Nanshi (ElfGate) the north (DwarfGate), and the wharves. I think Cougar's points are fair too.

The amount of work MadK@ has put into this is amazing, almost the entire server has been rebuilt, and tho the look & feel remains largely the same, it now makes logical sense! Total awesomeness! :cooler:

Irrelevant to this conversation (fantasy) but my 20 years of dealing with zoning and planning in real life, I have to disagree with the above. The most efficient location for goods storage any city planner/Architect will tell you will be near the major transportation routes in and out of a city. Modern zoning will almost always try to reduce the overlap of heavy industrial and mass commercial traffic through residential zones. Alternatively, overlap with commerical and retail districts is desired since these districts tend to be the destination of such goods in the first place.

Warehouseing and such will be found immediately adjacent to ports, trains and other major transportation routes in and out of any major city, of course as the system breaks into smaller units you find warehouses in smaller zones throughout larger cities, in every instance you will find major thoroughfare's to those locations allowing the goods to be delivered via truck to their destination points.

Its irrelevant to this conversation of course because we are not dealing with real life considerations. As far as I'm concerned every boat caravan into Elysia can employ a cadre of telporters to move goods to the warehouse district.

For me, I'm just looking forward to the New Elysia
