Sub Races

Post by jadeia » Thu Apr 17, 2003 3:52 am

Orleron.

Can we get a simple table like description of the Sub Races and what modifiers to stats they currently give?

Something like:

Elf
Avlissian Elf (default) - Dex +1 / Con -1
Dragonari - ???
Ghost - ???

Dwarf
(default) - Con +1 / Dex -1

etc etc

*laughs*

Aw man, I wasn't really bitchin. Just goofin' off on the board. I've wanted to RP around Blipdoolploop ever since I saw his name in the deity list. I've spent a lot of time trying to think of a good IC reason for someone of a race OTHER than lizardmen to give Blipdoolploop the time of day.

I just love the name Blipdoolploop. I really can't help myself.

Bye Now,
Jerry Cornelius - Blipdoolploop.

I'm no AD&D expert, and don't have the 3rd edition rules - but is this correct? Seems strange to me that Orcs get +1 intelligence.

Forget about the other DND worlds, Aradan. On Avlis the orcs are much more civilised then in the ADnD handbooks. Here they are more like politicians instead of barbarians, so it's fitting they should have +1 int, their general alignment is also lawful evil, not chaotic evil like in those books.

Ah, but Avlis is not AD&D exactly. And in Avlis, Orcs produced a circle of Mages powerful enough to create a spell that would have annihilated thier enemies...

In a real world analog, Orcish society produced a Manhatten project, and developed the bomb. Thats not the act of a stupid race (unwise? perhaps, stupid - no)

Were it not for the intervention of some unknown outside force the spell would have succeeded. And Orcs may well have become the dominant race on Avlis.

I can't say for certain if +1 Int is a typo - but I like the idea of smart, strong, slow moving orcs. They dont have lightening fast intellects, but they think harder and deeper then is immediately apparent. If it were not for that damn accent....

Perhaps Half Orcs get the worst of the deal, gaining strength only, but the human blood taints the brain.

Not a typo. Avlis orcs are smart, yes.

*newbie report*

I noticed that you have some subraces here..

I was wondering if its possible that I can chose as a subrace (which i wont fill in the subrace field though) Half-demon. I like to play them because it's really good in the combination CE (I will chose half-elf as a race but her appearance will be as a half-demon then).

Can I do that or not? This is wanted to know before im going to create a character :)

No. the ability to play a sub-race is a kind of reward system we have here. First try your hand at RPing an ordinary character and becoming part of the world, before you go and apply for making a strange sub-race monstrosity.

Fek, it's a remnant of our old webpage. The other one still exists on that webpage, but is no longer updated. Try these:

NWN Custom Race Adjustments for Avlis

Avlis downloads page (where the editor can be found)

There will probably by now also be some other discussions on the boards about our custom races, but you'll have to do your own search for them.

Still no word on what Orctrain is? I assume this is something out of the PnP campaign which isn't in NWN..?

Cheers,
