I'm new to Avlis (though not NwN), and thought you might be interested in the complete newbie's "Out of the Box Experience" of getting
Avlis up and running.
First off, there are FAQs which say you need to apply to get a password to play on these servers. So I did. I received no response for
a couple of days, and found that for some reason avlis.org is a false positive on verizon's spam filter (sigh). So I created a second
account and sent a PM via the site to spool32, who was very kind to send me a quick response. (Wow - thanks. Very nice! Nice
nice people.) That was how I learned that you actually don't need to apply anymore. Maybe the FAQ can be updated?
So next, I went to the install page and downloaded avlis_v1.rar. This ran well. But when I went to try to log in, the game stated that
certain files were missing. Apparently CoPaP haks are not included in avlis_v1. Nor is Abyss.hak. (Note: I logged into Le'Or, but it
still required Abyss.hak despite what the "Servers and HAKs" table says.) Nor was copaptlk_4_8.tlk installed.
Luckily, all the files that are needed are referenced on the Needed_files page. So I didn't need to search much. Still, maybe
including a step by step procedure could be added to the top, like this:
...or even better (admittedly, more work), change avlis_v1.rar to install everything. Music, pictures, and all optionals included. To add Avlis to an existing Neverwinter Nights installation, do the following:
Step 1: Download and extract avlis_v1.exe from avlid_v1.rar. Run the .exe file.
Step 2: Download and extract the CoPaP files [[ list all 9 ]] hak files. Install them in your NwN_MAIN_DIR/hak directory
Step 3: Download and extract Abyss.hak. Install it in your NwN_MAIN_DIR/hak directory
Step 4: Download and extract copaptlk_4_8.tlk. Install it in your NwN_MAIN_DIR/tlk directory
I wouldn't worry about disk space. It's so cheap these days. This would be much easier than piecemeal installation.
I think I'm still missing the CEP heads and player housing files.

Now for the question. I made a version of my PC, but want to change her. Among other things, I'd like to check out the
new Avlis heads. So how do I delete a PC? (Other than abandon it for 3 months.) I searched the website and couldn't
find anything.
