That's right! Now, winners can pick Crafting or Artificing XP instead of the normal cookie!
1st place will receive 500xp/level (or 500xp/crafting or artificing level)
2nd place will receive 250xp/level (or 250xp/crafting or artificing level)
Role Player of the Year 2009!
In Third place we have a Three way tie, they will each be receiving 100xp per level and a lot of well wishes!
Anomandaari
and
Rhissaerk
In Second we have a Two way tie! They will each be receiving 250xp per level and a pat on the head by the DM of their choice!
and
Thorfinn Kiff
And finally, our First place winner. We've never seen so many votes for one PC before so it is an honor to give 500 xp per level and a new forum title to no other than...

A huge congratulations to all of the winners, and a hearty thanks to everyone who took the time to vote!
Happy New Year from the Avlis Team!

Comments!
Honorable Mentions:
- I know we were told not to vote for individual DM's, but the DM's collectively are one of the largest enjoyments on Avlis for me. They, IMO, really help to drive everything forward.
Bards. Who can't love bards? They're giving the world so much value in story and entertainment. The ones who flesh out the bloody story long after the NPCs are long dead, giving meaning to it all. The ones who pick up the little charades and romances out there and weaves it into great tales and set it all in a greater context. <3
Honorable mentions this year include the Lizards, the attack on the awards ceremony was pure genius and awesome to watch. Not to mention they've played consistently well and with good ooc sportsmanship despite the fact that they're outnumbered and outgunned PC wise.
I want to take this opportunity to salute all the team members out there who keep this place running.
As an aside, I want to put in a comment for the Warrior Maidens of Dre'ana. These "girls" are as great a group to play with as you can hope for, the continual banter whether in the fight of their lives or guarding an old dirt track outside of Blandenberg, it's easy to fall in love with each and every one of them, they all play their role as a tight-knit group of ladies, who all know each other as well as you would expect from those that spend that much time together, and it is a joy to play with them, either as a player or DMing. Ladies, I salute you!
Three Cheers for Zvidureth! A new place to always find a good group of people topwnRP with!
Fletcher Millstone: consistent and convincing as the merchant king of Zvidureth.
Moriand Dias: fast becoming one of my favourite rangers.
Veras is just a stellar characterization. A seemingly simple exterior belies the character's complexity underneath. Then there's Tilk. Together they're simply amazing.
Fergus as always is never willing to compromise his principles. Dangerously intelligent and witty and always able to bring some sanity to the insanity that is Elysia, Zvidureth, Mikona, etc.
Finn's capacity for compassion is inspiring especially since intrigue can't seem to stay away from him.
Cuddly Gnoll! Admit it, you're thinking of Leo!. Loads of fun to play with, talk to and tease.
Ellowin's passing was deeply felt by many. While I have lost relatives IRL, none were very close and the sense of loss was profound. Thank you so much for bringing her back.
Even though not as cool as Llyshra, Liam Dald is my second favorite character on Avlis. Thanks for making my sporadic gaming adventures in 2009 all they have been.
Kedar is what a barbarian Malekite should be. I wish I could have voted for Arthon as well, those two together produce some of the finest Malekite RP I've ever seen (that's including ye old Malekites of old).
Finn, he'll get a lot of votes. The reason is he really is that good an RPer.
She's foxy and she's silver. And she has excellent, well-formed stools. Role-player of the decade! (Or is it really just a 'role'...?)
Lululu! Don't call her that, she'll stab you.
Rhissaerk doesn't need Comments. Comments need Rhissaerk.
Thorfinn is a goddamn RP machine. He's just a perfectly-played goodguy, with all that entails, and there's so much depth and power behind the town drunk persona.
Aeveras has only been back around a few months... but even then he's deserving of RPotY. Easily the best and most consistent RPer on Avlis. Every moment in game with him is a joy.
Kory is without a doubt one of the most finely RPed characters i've had the pleasure of playing with on Avlis, from protective mother-figure to playful sister and everything in between, a real unsung hero, she takes it all in her stride and comes out smiling at the end.. most of the time
Silver Fox has been a fabulous consistent presence, both in RP and in her guild.
Mhog is just an awesome kitty, who's always there, to bounce idea's off of, fight by your side, or get you out of trouble.
Seylek, has amazing depth, when you get past his gruff exterior.
Kassha Firehart has spent the last year being hilarious, being tragic, kicking ass, and taking names. He's never been boring and he's evolved throughout the year. I'm glad the army didn't hang him.
Sher'cha is a joy to be around, whether chatting at Elf Gate, or kicking ass in Nightfang Sher is the bard of choice for the discerning adventurer, her songs are beautifully written, humorous and always captivating, throw into that her player's sunny demeanour and fantastic attitude and it all makes for an RP experience you won't forget in a hurry.
Knowledgeable, wise, and fearless, Fergusdefines awesomeness.
Varion because i feel he's one of the best played Avengers currently.
Hert because of that sermon at the Rock. If anyone can give a sermon on Lawfulness with a confounder, Avenger, and Blackguard in the audience, then they deserve to win.
Hester probably has the cutest personality and speech pattern on Avlis.
Aeveras is not only a great character, but he's played by a great player. He tries to enhance the enjoyment of his fellow players even if it means bending his character concept from time to time. I truly enjoy both interacting with him IC, and just as much OOC.
Arlan Clan for Halfling of the Year... seriously, a great balance between a character with actual substance, and one who makes me double over at every damn quip.
ANOMANDAARI
----
Have you ever met such a unique a character more perfectly woven by his experiences? It's hard to turn into something like Mandaari without the imagination of a twisted artist and the 2+ years it takes to paint your masterpiece
Lily: Multiple tiers of personality, and history. A great character on many levels.
Silver's RP is consistantly Epic. I don't know whether to run in fear of her Evilness; or fight along side her, shoulder to shoulder, against all things that seek to destroy the southern nation of M'Chek.
Kassha's wit and charm keep me coming back for more good (chaotic?) things from this Red Mage.
Eleanor, to this day is still one of the few people who has always been true to their character. There was never a build, or a concept. There's never a case of sliding the RP to suit the situation, its IC all the time, everytime and thats why Eleanor gets my vote for this award.
Liam and Dillon, Dillon and Liam. Proof that Bromances exist on Avlis. These two guys are always a blast, and my playing here is always enhanced by their presence.
Geris: gone but not forgotten.
Silver: classic, and classy. Always a genuine pleasure to play with.
Mandari is a great character to play with. Delightfully evil, mysterious and nutty!
Sonja is a very deep character. The more you talk to her, the more you realize an immense story behind her that has taken years to build up.
Pantera is golly gosh gee fun ta play with! Just a shy rowdy bundle 'a character that makes me wanna squish 'er and rustle up some fine whompin' action and chattin'!
Geris Grey may have made me pee my pants, but I forgive him. Mostly.
talon is a loudmouthed braggart, boisterous, and very charismatic, as well as dangerous to be around. You really have to watch out for yourself, if he is in the party. He is a loose canon, and great fun.
Rhissaerk is a top notch charater. He is always a joy to rp with.
Liam Dald is such a well played warrior and scoundrel. His player makes you hang on every word just to see what he does next.
Rosemary has done (and continues to do) an excellent job of RP'ing a young woman trying to 'come of age' in a war-torn, medieval setting. She tries to maintain her 'youthful idealism', all while living in a situation where danger is almost constant. She underscores the fun of RP'ing with someone on an individual basis, vs. so many of the characters who are always "on and over-the-top".
Rali- thanks for all the songs, jokes, and real RP adding to character development, and depth.
Ays-Added something to my character he lacked and allowed him to expand beyond just being 2 dimensional.
Angus Blacksail is the guy you just love to hate. The only thing bad to say about this guy is that he doesn't play enough!
Fletcher for the Win this year, not only does he provide one of the most valuable player driven services for Avlis, his RP rules and is just awesome all round!
Wow, what a hard choice to make! Anders Naberias is without a doubt one of the most creative and unique character concepts I've ever seen. And Fergus Goodmane represents a truly genuine personality that simply oozes immersion. Well done both of you!
Thorfinn is simply amazing, the depth of that character never ceases to amaze me.
Deo's growth of the last year has been a joy to watch and an honor to be a part of.
Hert...well, shoo!
Losin Rockhands: Always a solid character to play with!
I wish I could cast about eight votes, but there you go... Liam Dald is Avlis' most consistently entertaining character, and the Quixotic master swordsman is always worth logging in for.
Liam Dald is always fantastic. All the time.
I can't do much but choose Liam's partner in adventure, the much better looking Dillon Wylde. This guy is always a pleasure to get drunk, fight dragons, and save damsels with.
Torok: I have been witnessing the role-playing skills of this particular player for almost a year now, and I am continually amazed. His ability to stay in character when any of us mere mortals would have broken down and began weeping is what keeps bringing me back to Avlis week after week. It would be a shame to not recognize this player as 'one of the greats'.
Nawen is just fun to be around, at times her tongue is as sharp as her keened short swords.
Fletch is so light hearted one moment and intense the next.
There are no situations that can't be improved by adding a Dald to them. Liam's presence is guaranteed to make even the most mundane occurrence into something truly epic.
Thienna is near tireless in her efforts and it shows. Always fun to RP with.
I'm voting for Sir Haverith though I think Hyacinth Pike qualifies as well! Both are great, well played characters, complete with their own strengths, weaknesses, merits and flaws. The player is an intelligent and welcoming person who is always a pleasure to interact with.
Vesdrac should come with his own bad guy theme music!
Dillon Wylde is a true character. Adventurer, soldier, scoundrel. He also has his secret other side. Consistently played, making things fun for other players, this character makes Avlis a better place.
Freddy Arlan, a mage of "low" character, is consistently played, always interesting, and a joy to play with. I salute the player for roleplay. An excellent character, sir.
If it was anything else, 2009 was the Year of Opportunity, and it was such because of the rise and rise of Fletcher Millstone (and the embiggening of his already sarcastically-sized personal fortune). Generous, funny, interesting and heroic.
Anomandaari goes through several layers of personal hell for breakfast, and is never as selfish as to keep them all for himself.
Miriel - as always; excellent RP. Someday I hope to be one quarter as good as she is.
Such a hard choice for votes for the whole year. Fletcher has been a really fun character to interact with over the year in the various forms.
Freddy Mouze (not to be confused with that other Freddy) certainly has made a huge change in my PC's existance lately. Possibly even more changes to come.
Straccio´s value relies not on putting a spotlight over himself, but on empowering others. Such thing deserves recognition.
OKay these may sound like odd choices for rpoty (after all one hasn't even been here all year) but bear with me! Rrash because I find myself hoping I'll run into the bloody wemic, and Vic because in my mind he has helped revitalise the green. YARR!
Anders is a unique and consistently well-RPed character. As for Rhissaerk, simply put, it is great to have him around again.
I love how Salamander (Linthen) plays a hardline Sereg in-game and his Sereg forum reports are great. Interacting with him is always fun and his RP has wonderful nuances. I'm looking forward to seeing how he develops in the coming year(s).
Sher'Cha has been an important catalyst for bringing out both the better nature, and the bardic side, as well as the darker nature of my PC in the recent year.
Gotta vote for Thorfinn this year.. its been a huge one for him, and hes still alive to tell the tale!
Raine is a superb character.. always fun to interact with her.. just watch out for what she makes your character try on!
I know he doesn't seem like much in any real respect, but CALE BROSS is never unbelievable, not for a moment. And he uses the voiceset like a god of yore.
Every single time I play with Kedar I ask myself why I didn't wear a Depends diaper ahead of time
Aeveras is an absolute pleasure to play with and DM for. He maintains a consistent character and is willing to take risks and do things without putting too much extra strain on the DM's part.
Liam needs no introduction or explanation really. Fantastic roleplayer, even while in combat, even while soloing something. This character is always entertaining, and interesting.
To consider Vesdrac Noss'tau your closest friend, even more so if you are uncertain whether this is reciprocal, does not necessarily mean that you have a mental problem. Watching him go through the motions of everything he incites, however, increases Miriel's mental instability slowly but surely ...
Sher'Cha is such a cutie and brings so much to the game both in-game and in the forums. It's obvious that she puts a tremendous amount of time and effort being creative and it's made mine and my character's lives better.
Brongar is one of the best role-played characters I've ever encountered in my thirty years of playing Dungeons & Dragons. He's such a fully-realized character that he pulls me into the game completely. His speech, mannerisms, and decisions are always convincing. Brongar makes me *believe* he's a dwarven fighter. I don't think Tolkien could've done any better.
Cati is a bouncing dynamo of energy in an Avenger package. She always makes me smile and always brings out my best RP
Finn is a character that appears shallow on first impression but has more layers then an onion once you get to know him, a very well played character with a great depth
Ellowin is and always has been a kickass character on so many levels. From simple smiting of bad guys to super serious situations. Every interaction this past year has been incredibly fun and I look forward to the interactions to come!
Vesdrac... some of the best "walk the line" rp that I've had over the year that has tested the limits of my character. Everyone should have a nemesis in game!
Wolf.. in three words.. PEW PEW PEW!!
If I could vote more than twice, these people would be on the list also, cos they have done a great job all year. Fergus, Moira, Silver, Hert (the few times I have seen him)
Oh and PLEASE PLEASE post this cos its funny
AEV SUCKS!
