After nearly 2 decades, the Avlis Sourcebook is here

Post by Orleron » Fri Nov 27, 2009 3:42 pm

Ladies and gents, as I write this, I am holding a real live hard cover copy of the Avlis sourcebook (and an 11-month old infant.) "The World of Avlis" is here, finally, after 17 years of work and fun the dream is realized. The only other dream that really came close was getting this PW up and running. (The fact that it lasted about 8 years so far exceeds that dream.)

If you wish to own a piece of this dream, you can get it at Lulu.com:

http://www.lulu.com/product/hardcover/t ... is/6050044

I had some help on the cover design from Hamlet. It's much improved over the plain gray background that I have on my book. We used some of Buddha's knot work that he got from Mark Smiley. Pretty cool, huh?

<Edited> The PDF version is out at paizo.com:

Other PDF vendors will follow soon.

This 254-page book contains 34 races, 11 Prestige classes, 16 new spells, 33 mage feats, and 23 monsters originating from the Avlis campaign setting, but usable in pretty much any world.

Above all, have fun! Go play some Avlis pnp if that's what you do, and let me know how it goes.

How funny, I went on to other things months ago.

Thought I'd drop in and check out what's goin' on in Avlis, and what's the News of the Day? The Sourcebook is out!

Hell, yeah! I ordered a copy.

Orl... Get this sourcebook on Amazon!

Use Amazon Advantage
http://www.amazon.com/gp/seller-account ... =200329780
(which means you'd need to send them a few units to keep in stock, and let them take a sizable percentage. They do the work, you collect the checks.)

or
I can create a product detail page. Then you use Fulfillment by Amazon
http://www.amazon.com/gp/seller/fba/ful ... vite__home

(basically you send a stack to Amazon, you handle the customer service, Amazon handles the fulfillment & shipping). This method would be a higher profit %.

This would require some effort, but also allows you to expose Avlis to an enormous audience.

With a keyword-rich title, reviews, tags, and sales, the Amazon sourcebook page would get better & better rankings, and start taking on a life of its own.

Thanks, man. The first thing I'd have to do is get an ISBN number and put it on the cover, but that wouldn't be too hard.

I have submitted a rather silly review, but a review nonetheless, on Paizo's site.

What can I say? The book's great. Well done, guys, and thanks. :)

Strictly speaking, an ISBN isn't necessary for Amazon anymore. If it's not a problem, sure go ahead. But don't let that hold you back. If a book doesn't have an ISBN, Amazon just assigns its own unique code (an ASIN) to a book. Some titles have both, like when I've created page for old RPGs, then back-entered an ISBN when I realized the book had one (Sometimes the 1st printings didn't have 'em, but subsequent printings an ISBN showed up on the back cover).

Purchased the hard copy and then after eight hours of work I came back and sat around for 20 minutes before finding out how impatient I am >>

I liked the part about Archibald the most.
Vetinari: I have noted before that you have a definite anti-authoritarian streak, Commander.
Vimes: Sir?

Vimes: Sir?
Vetinari: That's practically Zen.

Damn my car had to and start misfiring this week! Just got it fixed so all the extra funds I just made before Thanksgiving went to it. Guess I will have to settle for a later date now. :wallbash:

Congratz and thank you to all who assisted in making this a reality!!

Will definitely buy this when I get the money. Avlis was what made me start roleplaying, which I still do. In a PnP group, even. Thanks, Avlis!
