Alright, I think I have asked this several times to individuals, but i don't remember the answers I received, or didn't get a straight answer.
But if we are trying to accomplish something rp in and out game, how do we go about talking to DMs about that goal. I believe in the past, people have told me to just track down a dm and post them a message, but how does one know which dm to contact.
Here is an example of what I am talking about. I am a character who wants to find out something say a house. So I walk around the house in game, roll some numbers, but no dm is on, so i am left clueless. I hop online drop a message on here, "MELBA searched this house looking to see if anyone lived in it. <rolled this>."
In my ideal world, this would produce some results from a dm. They could come on and post something like "After searching no one lives there." and maybe they would pm said person to find out what is going on and why.
That being said I know dm's like to be pmed about things prior to things like that happening, which is reasonable, but there are sooooo many choices and I don't want to feel like have one or two in my pocket by pming them all.
Anyway some guidance on said issue would be great.

Re: Question about posting to DMs
Every DM is different in how they like to handle things, honestly. In general, though:
PM a DM you know, or grab one in IRC and ask them who's handling whichever thing your PC is investigating. If they don't know right off the bat they can find out within a day or two for sure.
Once you know who to PM take a screenshot of your die roll, or PM them your stats (both is always good) and a description, which can be done as an emote, of what you've done.
That should handle most things, hope it helps!
edit: important note, always include what you've done and what you're looking for! "so and so walked around a house with a 54 search check" could well get you "you noticed the paint is pealing and they have a mouse problem"

Re: Question about posting to DMs
Another question: do certain dm's stick to certain areas. Like to dms have particular servers that they gamemaster for, or is it a free for all for dming.

Its a free for all but most DM's have their favorites.MasonW wrote:Another question: do certain dm's stick to certain areas. Like to dms have particular servers that they gamemaster for, or is it a free for all for dming.
Im a big Deglos fan but will DM on other servers as well.
Spool and Bel they are a bunch of shrumpers so they stick to T'Nanshi alot.

Divvill is a UD'er as are szabot and DF and a few others.
Danish and Nob tend to stick to Mikona and M'Chek.
The list above is not set in stone nor is it a hard and fast rule.
