Forum Downtime Event - Monday, July 5th

Post by spool32 » Sun Jul 05, 2009 11:56 pm

We will be migrating the A1 forums on Monday, July 6th, probably starting mid-morning in the US timezones. We'll keep you posted with updates... it should take somewhere between 12 and 20 hours. After it returns to a live state, we may still experience serious performance issues for a few more hours as the search database re-indexes. Our dry-run took almost 25 hours to re-index, and contained over 30 million records.

Posts to the forums after we announce beginning of data migration will NOT BE MIGRATED. We'll continue to posts updates to the old forums until the new ones are live and the DNS target change cuts us over to the new host. You should eventually see them all vanish, replaced by a single announcement that we are live and open for posting at the new webhost.

We'll try to get this done as fast as we can. Wish us luck!

I'll make a very clear announcement, in a separate post, when the cut-off happens for data migration on the current forums.

I presume the same will apply to PM's as forum posts.
