SERVER DOWNTIME - SATURDAY MORNING(ON HOLD)

Post by spool32 » Fri Apr 03, 2009 2:46 pm

The server move is on hold, a new date will be announced asap, thanks for being patient!

We are planning to shut Avlis down on Saturday morning US Eastern Time, April 4 2009, for the final data transfer from the current servers over to The Beast.
You MUST change your shortcuts, ASK links, Serverwatch icons, or other methods of connecting, to the new IP Address:

96.57.173.162

Passwords and port numbers will stay the same. Data transfer will take several hours to complete, so please be patient.
DNS addresses will take a day or so to be reflected worldwide, so please use the IP Address to connect.

I don't know what the exact time they have picked is, however, for example, 13oo GMT on 4/4 would be 9 AM EST 4/4.

Hope that helps! 8-)

Do you have the proper hardware sacrifices to appease the technology gods?

Judging by the looks of The Beast, I think some old memory, a hard drive (functionality optional) and 2 network cards will do the trick. Be sure to the use the ceremonial hammer.

Thaylis Beign: Morgan, did you cast recitation?
Morgan Thornheart: Yes

Morgan Thornheart: Aarilax blesses you all. Now get the fuck out of here.

If you find yourself lacking proper sacrificial materials, watching Office Space may be considered an acceptable substitution tribute.

Strike the first rune upon the engine's casing employing the chosen wrench. Its tip should be anointed with the oil of engineering using the proper incantation when the auspices are correct. Strike the second rune upon the engine's casing employing the arc-tip of the power-driver. If the second rune is not good, a third rune may be struck in like manner to the first. This is done according to the true ritual laid down by Scotti the Enginseer. A libation should be offered. If this sequence is properly observed the engines may be brought to full activation by depressing the large panel marked "ON".

If you're in #avlis in IRC, you can just type !gmt and the internets will tell you what time it is.

May the machine spirit of Avlis be assuaged by our sacrifices. Glory to the Omnisiah and his bounty.

Does the IP change also affect the portal from Ysgard to Deglos? I’m not likely to be logging in to NWN during the time the transfer is taking place but I do jog my character back and forth between Avlis and Hala a few times a week.

I had that damn cat on the Forum and now I can get back in. Does that mean we have moved, or was it just the usual 'Lunchtime Cat'? :?

From what I understand, the forums are not moving -- they're staying with the current hosting service. Musta been the Lunch Cat.

You are free to play on until further notice everyone.
