Parry and Rapid Shot question

Post by Cushman » Sat Dec 20, 2008 1:26 am

OK, two questions:

Parry: Is it still "broken" even after the 1.69 update? I've read that it might be good for low-level characters, but at higher levels it doesn't work as advertised.

Rapid Shot: This is supposed to give an extra shot per round but playing with it in a module it doesn't seem to work. Does it really work like it should?

Rapid shot does work as advertised. Parry is still broken vs. flurries, but fun anyway!
Success will be lovely, but you will have to go out and get it! Failure will invite itself in.

Re: rapid shot:

I think the extra attack just doesn't show on the character sheet, iirc.

Yeah, its like dirty fighting or flurry of blows in that it doesn't show up.

Character sheets are notorious liars, for shapeshifted PCs in particular.

Rapid shot works, I use it all the time (just wish it would stay ON and not turn off whenever you move).
The -2 to attack rolls shows up on the character sheet, but the extra attack doesn't, if you pay attention (outside of a proper battle usually) you will be able to tell you are firing out an extra arrow every 6 seconds.
Too bad we haven't got 3.5 ed... Manyshot! Improved Rapidshot! One Shot! :D
(psst... 4 attacks + rapid shot + haste = 6 attacks per round = 1 arrow a second!)
Permanently confused.

Regarding rapid shot, is it automatic once you take the feat, or is it modal like power attack? I just looked at a character that has it and didn't see the mode switch on the radial menu but it sounds like it SHOULD be something to turn on and off.

It runs just like Power Attack. Turns off if your character moves. Kinda a PITA that way.

It's modal, (and turns itself off every time you move annoyingly, why mine is quickslotted) should be in: Special Attacks > More Special Attacks.

Ahah! There it is. Thanks. I didn't see that for some reason. Now it makes sense that it wasn't working like I thought it should. :)

Just make sure you don't pick Rapid Reload (crossbows) by mistake. :!:
