1.69 and Feats your Character Already Has

Post by spool32 » Thu Jul 10, 2008 3:10 pm

As we prepare for the 1.69 upgrade, I want to call attention to this section of the patch notes:
Feat Prerequisite changes (these may make some existing characters invalid in multiplayer games)
- The Epic Dodge feat now requires 30 ranks of Tumble skill as a prerequisite, as per the description (feat.2da).
- The "Dragon Shape" feat now requires Wild Shape 6x/day as per the description (feats.2da).
- Fixed prerequisite for "Epic Weapon Focus Club" to be "Weapon Focus Club" rather than "Improved Critical Club" (feat.2da).
- Weapon Specialization Club now requires four fighter levels to obtain (rather than one).
If you have one of these four Feats, keep in mind that we may have to fix your PC when we update to 1.69. Please have a look at your character and verify that you meet the new prerequisites. If you don't, please comment here so we know what sort of workload we're looking at.

Jwolaroth.

Apparently the people at Bioware think it makes sense for someone who can turn into a badger six times a day to learn to turn into a dragon, but not someone who turns into a manticore infinite times a day. Instead of fixing the bad description, they alter how the feat works to fit a bad description. Way to go bioware. *sarcasm*

Sorry for the lip, but anyone who knows the character knows how much that ability has become part of him. Might have to just leave the character behind as a casualty of bioware.

Oopsie. Nevermind.

Did some digging. Apparently the shifter route to dragon still works. Only the straight druid route was changed to require 18 druid levels instead of 15. So 10 shifter or 18 druid qualifies. Don't need both. Jwolaroth is still valid. Whew. Patch info was just unclear.

Patch also says -Scripting support for horses

Anyone know anything about that? Oh snap, just seen horses on the list of 100 creature appearances.

Clubbing 101 Class 1:
First: always have a fresh beer in hand (wine and hard liquor is advanced skeelz)
HEY BARTENDER, GET THIS MAN A BEER!
Second: turn and scan the crowd for 'possibles'.
Okay class, for homework practice these two skills.

does the presence of horses in 1.69 mean that centaurs, er, REAL centaurs will be possible at some point?

PPsst, ppsst, go start another thread about horses, don't hijack this one. ;)

I'm too afraid to ask about rideable horses, myself. But it would be so neat! :flucht:

Nobody has Epic Dodge and less than 30 ranks in Tumble? I'm stunned.

30 ranks of tumble is +7AC, with all those skill points what else is a poor Rogue to do?
I imagine most Epic Dodge characters have close to 40 tumble.

Since we're using our own ELC (Enforce Legal Character) as opposed to BioWare's this probably won't be a problem anyway.
However, if it will affect us then keep in mind that the ELC will probably check if you had the necessary pre-reqs the very level you took any of the listed feats not if you meet them at your current level.

There's at least one, but he hasn't been seen in several weeks :( I'm sure there are others.

I was not planning on going beyond 15 tumble but this change* forced me to sink points into it. I do NOT have the points to spare and had to sacrifice some of my other roguey skillz because of it. At the very least, there's some small compensation for the investment.

* This has been a well known error. The fix is stupid easy: it's a small edit to a .2da file. Claims of not having the time to get around to it are pure spun BS. To actively ignore it for so long and then add it in on the last patch is just low class.

When is it expected that Avlis will see the upgrade? Just curious because I'm new to the world (have yet to create my character) and currently have 1.69 installed on my machine. If need be, I can probably downgrade, but if the upgrade is coming soon I can just wait.

I'm hardly in charge of the upgrade or anything like that, so I could be corrected, but I'd suggest going back to 1.68 if you want to play here right now.

It'll be a couple of weeks at least... the whole of CoPaP has to upgrade together, so there are I think 12 servers to coordinate, and three different Teams.

Assuming no two PWs have the same team, there are 16 servers and five different teams. Sounds like a hell of a lot of work, all told.

No two worlds share the same team. Some team Members maybe on multiple teams. Like Themi is a Avlis Team Member, and World Leader of Tairis. And I would have to agree with the "hell of a lot of work" statement.

Yeah...that does sound like a lot of work. Does anyone know if it is possible to have two instances of NWN on your system? One 1.68 and 1.69? Like if I renamed the current folder with patch 1.69 to 'NeverwinterNights2' and then re-installed the program in a new 'NeverwinterNights' folder and patched up to 1.68 would both work independently? It would be very cool if I could get started here in Avlis (looks awesome) and still hop on to see some friends in 1.69 realms now and then.

It is possible, yes.
Your password must contain at least 8 letters, a capital, a plot, a protagonist with good character development, a twist, and a happy ending.

Just make a copy of your current NWN folder, currently 1.68 patch. Take one of those copies and rename it. Update one of the copies. Rename which ever one you want to use.

I've never done it, so it's just a theory to me, but I believe that is how you could do it.

edit: Oops, current one is 1.69. Same idea, different method.

Copy folders with 1.69, then run the revert patch for one of them.

If you have two drives, putting the copy on the second drive might be a good idea.
