Evard's black tentacles

Post by Zip Nolan » Mon Apr 28, 2008 9:54 am

Quick question.

Is it intended to be effectively an instant death spell...I thought that being "bleeding" prevented you from taking additional damage...Evard's tentacles seem to ignore this rule, is this the intention? if so I think this spell is over powered...I know it's been tweaked from the NWN original, but it still seems a little unfair.

thanks

When you have knocked someone to bleeding, they're set to plot so that your random NPCs don't plane you the moment you go down. Instead you enter the bleeding mode, and get a chance to recover. However, since you also should have the chance to plane people that you have dropped to bleeding, the plot status is removed after a short while. If there are any AOE spells doing damage over time in the area then, then it's tough luck, you're going to die.

Storm of Vengeance is similarly pwny... and harder to resist. :)
Success will be lovely, but you will have to go out and get it! Failure will invite itself in.

Evard's takes up every 4th, 5th, and 6th level spell slot in my spell book. If I ever meet Evard, I think I'll shake his hand.

I suppose I'm only bitter as my character is Evoker and as such is barred from conjuration and will never have the chance to cast Evard's Black Tentacles.

Just have to consol myself that I recently achieved a high enough level to take maximised Firebrand...

...and remember, if someone manages to get to you and heal you before the AoE spells can kill you then whine continuously for the next twenty minutes about having been healed when combat was still going on. You obviously had much more chance of surviving the AoE spells bleeding to death on the floor than with full hitpoints and the ability to stagger out of the danger zone.

I just looked up the Wiki to see what changes had happened to Evard's Tentacles. I found this
Note that creatures of size Small or less are immune to Evard's black tentacles.
Is it true?

((Happy to have you try it out on me ;-) ))
