Romini Names

Post by Spell Singer » Wed Jun 25, 2003 7:48 am

Just curious what I should base a Romini characters name on. Should it be Romanian (slavic etc) or is there another culture that fits them better?

As far as I know Romini is the same as gypsy. Use gypsy names I guess (?)

Yep, they're basically gypsies. In fact, romini just means gypsy in real life gypsy language. Do a google search on it.

romini = gypsy
georgio = non-gypsy

Since we are on the subject of the Romini, I'm not sure how to put this...

What is the status of the girls in the Rompin' Romini bath houses, are they "open" to sexual advances, or are they just normal citizens who like to bath alot, or are they "personal" attendents for massage and things like that. I'm thinking along the lines of the Geisha girls.

Thanks for any input.

Best regards,

I'm talking about using my imagination to fill in the "gaps" of the on-screen display.

I know that they just stand around and do nothing, the only thing they say is how they love the feel of the water, but what would they do if this game was a fully PnP game and a DM was available everywhere to everyone.

I think of Avlis as being fully alive with things going on all the time with the regular people doing their things.

I like to be able to chat with other character about the "normal" things. Like how I love to go to the baths and just relax and chat with the lovely women of the Romini.

I can imagine after a long day of crafting, patrolling, or cave diving, going to the baths for some relaxation and maybe a good massage. And in this type of setting it would be relatively normal to accept the favors of a working girl. Plus as my character Heldor reaches out to the common people, I like to have contacts amoung all levels of society. I patrol the slums and the docks. I help feed the poor. I try to be a "big brother" to the gang kids. etc. Most of these activities are off-screen type things that round out my background and give color to my dialogs.

Best regards,

I think that there are girls in the Inn in L'Or T'Nanshi who provide a massage service, so I guess this could be accomodated in the Rompin Romini Inn too.

Either that or I dreamed it, in which case I need to stop playing Avlis for a while !! :shock:

LOL,

I just signed up today to play on the server. I saw this topic and I had to laugh. I told my self I get to play a Romini. Sunt Rom?ncă. So this should be a lot of fun, though I am not Roma . Prietenii mei sunt Ţigăneşte, dar nu sunt.

Nu mai bine!!!
