Problem with NWN

Post by Scotch » Thu Mar 13, 2008 11:21 pm

I realize this problem is not one of Avlis because it occured before I installed Avlis just wondering if there is a fix or do i need to reinstall NWN. I just installed NWN on my comp today and ran it for the first time on my new rig. All of the begining splash screens ran ok but the first screen with all the options to play, exit, multiplay, modules yada yada yada was all black with the hand icon being the only thing i could see. I had the hand and could click on things i managed to click on the load screen and then everything was ok. Went back to that first screen and everything was visible, loaded up a charachter and played for a few minutes to make sure everything was ok. Anyway the game seems to run fine except everytime i start the game i have this problem till i get it to another screen. Is there an easy fix for this the screen is there but all i see is black and its only that first screen. Or should i just redo the whole install.

I realise I'm not a team member, but since this isn't really an Avlis problem...

The problem is your video drivers, not NWN, or rather it's the specific combination of your drivers and NWN. Reinstalling those wont help, installing a different driver might. Be warned though, some drivers that can handle that opening menu will have trouble with a few in-game textures

I had the same problem not long back and I found it was the video driver, try installing a later driver, if you still have the problem then try an earlier one.

If you have ATI or NVIDIA, get Omega Drivers, they're your friend! :)

Unless you use Windows XP x64 in which case there's currently no Omega drivers available.

Just a quick look at the dl sites there, but the 169.25 Omegas have x64

*Edits* Ah, just in Vista. Nevermind.
