Holy Warriors and Planar Travel
When my Holy Warrior goes to another plane, all of her prayers/powers/so on work perfectly with no contact with deity messages at all. Lately when she does go off world, conflicting RP occurs where others state she's going outside of Gorethar's "spectrum" of contact. So far I've been running on the base that if her magic works, she's still in contact.
What is the official stance on this. Is she in contact still or not? Is it plane dependent? What is the range where Gorethar retains his influence or is it Avlis or bust? Guess this can apply to all Holy Warriors.

We can't force other worlds to set offworld PCs out of favor. In your HW's case, Gorethar has no influence anywhere else than Avlis and as such she would be out of contact with Him whenever offworld. I seem to remember that Dru'El has some influence on Hala, maybe? Unless explicitly stated in the other world's setting info, Avlissian Gods have no power or influence outside Avlis.
As to how you should play that on other CoPaP worlds, I think it's a question better directed to the DM staff on those worlds. On Avlis however, stories of channeling deific power while on other planes or other worlds would be correctly explained as something other than "my deity must have power in other worlds than this."
I suspect that lack of resources, coupled with a desire not to deter planewalking by punishing a segment of the Avlissian playerbase when they leave Avlis, are the primary reasons why clerics and holy warriors from here aren't marked out of favor and denied divine spells while elsewhere in the CoPaP multiverse. That's speculation on my part though, and better answered by other world leaders.

I'd like to add to that question, but with respect to clerics (and other divine casters). If a cleric of an Avlis deity goes off-world, and his or her divine magic still works, what is the explanation for that?
(edit: too quick, Spool!)
Also, in both cases, is the correct answer/explanation something that would be common knowledge to PCs (or at least to the Holy Warriors and clerics themselves)?

*points up*

That answer should pertain to all Avlissian divine casters: clerics, druids, rangers, and holy warriors. I think the correct answer would be non-obvious to Avlissians in general... beyond "I don't know why this works but I'm pretty positive my God isn't doing it". Further IC explanations would need to come from the DM staff on those worlds.
How your PC reacts to this will depend entirely upon you, though my assumption is that your PC ought to be more than a little unsettled at some other God or Goddess answering his call... unless you're Aarilaxian, devotees of whom would probably just figure they're so amazingly awesome that other Gods answer their demands even when they don't get any worship in return!

From an Arkaz perspective off world divine casters can cast up to 4th level spells.
If Holy Warriors use divine spells then they would face the same issue. All other powers would still work, as we've never thought about this issue. The Avengers who visited us recently would probably be able to confirm this.

I'd like to mention that there will be a CoPaP discussion going on for the exact clarifications. I, or someone else, will relay the message back here once a final decision is made in regards to this.

They would not... it'd be like saying "I've driven a car all my life... airplane is no problem!" Avlissian druids don't commune with nature directly... they be nice to flowers and shrump because they're in contact with Gods who are up for that sort of thing.Ninjar wrote:Actually, if druids on a certain world draw their magic from nature then would the Avlissian druid who has gone off world to there still be unable to use their magic?

But I really think I could fly an airplane...right into the ground. If I managed to make it off the ground first.spool32 wrote:They would not... it'd be like saying "I've driven a car all my life... airplane is no problem!" I am now wondering if it was cheesy to say, "Gee, O"Ma can still hear me from here." when I took my ranger plane walking.

i never really thought about this as my druid PC...she just uses whatever is available to her without really considering it. (but then she's primarily gone to hala and tairis and is a Dru'Elite. on tairis druids get their abilities from nature directly; Dru'El does have some connection to hala.)
as far as my Avenger PC goes...when and if she goes off world (which is rare) i do not use any of my Avenger "prayers". yes...it can be a little limiting--but then i thought it would be cheesy to use them.

My attitude has been pretty much “WYSIWYG” - that how the strength of my character varied showed how difficult he was finding it to draw power from his god / how closely aligned the different planes were to each other. On Hala/Ysgard he is a little weaker due to the lack of militant bonuses so there I’d considered it as being a little harder to draw power/fairly aligned planes. On Arkaz (on his one visit) he got badly hampered in his prayers so there it was a lot harder to draw power / more unaligned planes.
Looks like he was deluding himself when he made all those complaints while on Arkaz about cursing his lack of skill in not being able to adequately contact his god, not being able to overcome the distance and the differences between the planes…
