Some of you may recognise this as a quotation from Oliver Twist.

Either way, it is appropriate - because we need more.

We want more DMs

If anyone fancies being a DM, with 'Teh Power' and 'Teh Knowledge' - plus all the fun of policing those pesky miscreants who pop up now and again - then please send an email to staff@avlis.org. One of my minions - er, I mean colleagues - will send you the Application Form. Fill that in and return it and very soon, you could have your own Wand - just like Harry, Ron and Hermione - or even like Lucius, Draco and You-Know-Who if you prefer.

You might feel that you would not be accepted. Well, that is what I felt 4 years ago. We all started by requesting and returning an Application Form.

If we could do that, why not you too?

As a special offer - for this week only, successful applicants will receive the same salary as me.

You can do it - so get off your rear end and apply. You know it makes sense.

Am I the only one who thinks that said salary is equal to zero? Well it comes down to this.

Have uber power and knowledge but no salary or not having uber power and knowledge and not get a single penny.

Hmmmm...exactly what kind of salary do you make at your current job? I may be interested. I am assuming that you mean your salary in real life. ;)

Lol, that saying reminds me of my dad. He taught for a couple of years when he got out of college. When he spanked the kids, he would always make them say "Thank you sir, would you care for another?" :)

I think he must have spanked the whole county because everyone that I meet that he taught always tells me about him spanking them.
I hate when I just miss a call by the last ring (Hello? Hello?), but when I immediately call back, it rings nine times and goes to voice-mail. What did you do after I didn't answer? Drop the phone and run away?

The wand chooses the owner, so you get the wand which is destined for you.

Mail directed to staff@avlis.org is redirected to a lot of people. Occasionally, one or two of those redirections may not work - so the sender receives an error message. However, the other redirections are successful.

I assure you, we are receiving your emails, thankyou.

Seriously, doing this can be a lot of fun.The only real downer for me was rule#3.It's hard to DM and still play a character, not only because of the rules, but once you see all the strings, some of the magic goes away.
But if you're tired of your characters and want to give back, this is a good way to do so! :)
I only did it for a little while and I still miss it. Good times.

That's a good point Bolo. If you have enough time, it's not hard at all to both DM and play your PC at the same time (I did it for a long time). But yes, once you've peaked behind the curtain, some of the magic is just gone. It's something you should consider, if you are thinking about applying.

On the other hand, you could always apply to DM (or code or build) on another CoPaP world! That way you get to DM and give back to the community, but without that pesky "knowing everything that goes on behind the curtains" thing troubling your play on Avlis!

No shame here. 8-)

Code: Select all

<Zebranky> (Also, that would piss SO many people off. ;)
<Nob> That's why it's such a great idea, Zeb.
