Would someone in the know please explain to me how I can host a mod (and still play avlis while that other mod is running for others to log into)? ...If that's possible...
Thanks.

Just running NWServer from the NWN folder should do it. You won't need the dedicated server if you've already got a full installation of NWN. If you want a DBase to run for persistency you'll also have to install NWNX2. Excellent information concerning installation and use are provided with the install package and on their own site at
http://www.nwnx.org
So much fun,
yet so little time to enjoy it.

Opening NWServer in my NWN folder does absolutely nothing. Maybe it's nothing more than an icon? Anyway, I've downloaded the dedicated server, but it's a lot of files and many of them have the same name as files already in my NWN folder...leading me to wonder: where should I extract all the dedicated server files to? I don't want to extract them to the wrong place and mess something up.
Help is very much appreciated!
