my dream machine...

Post by frogmella » Wed Jul 14, 2004 2:50 pm

As a project with my kids, I want to put together a good, yet affordable, gaming comp. So can you techies suggest a few bits of kit or specs - motherboard, cpu, graphics card etc. Much appreciated.

Anandtech has a buyer's guide they publish monthly. They have it listed as Entry Level System, Mid Range System and High End System. You can see each of these articles for the month of June (July for Entry Level) 2004 here: http://www.anandtech.com/guides/ . I like those folks a lot. Very knowledgable...

The community at Anandtech is also very helpful. I'm sure you could post to their forums and get folks from the UK who can help you as well. However all the standard components should be available there I would think.

They have been very helpful to me on several occasions.
