Question on Weapon Bonus
Question for all of you NWN rules gurus:
If a weapon has both an enhancement bonus and an attack bonus, do those two stack when calculating your "plus to hit"? What about enhancement and damage bonus?
i.e.
Club of Rat Squashing
+1 Enhancement Bonus
+4 Attack bonus vs. Vermin
+4 Damage Bonus vs. Vermin
Which scenario is correct when attacking Rats:
1) The "pluses" add together to make +5 to hit, and +5 to damage
Or
2) You take the highest plus, making it +4 to hit, and +4 to damage
If option (1) is correct, would casting a +5 greater magical weapon spell cause the total vs. Rats to be: +9 to hit, +9 to damage?

Re: Question on Weapon Bonus
Is the corect answer I believe. If this were PNP, I could say I Know it's corect... But there's always a shadow of a doubt when dealing with NWN...Tharliss wrote:2) You take the highest plus, making it +4 to hit, and +4 to damage

i think the Attack bonus's wouldnt stack, but the damage bonuses would.
IE.
Club of Rat pwning+1
+1 enhancement
+4 AB vs rats
+4 Dmg vs rats
when fighting a rat it would do
+d6+strbonus
+1 (from enhancement)
+4 from damage bonus vs rats
the attack bonus would be calculated as if the +1 enhancement wasnt there though.
edit:
However if it was a +5 enhance vs rats
and +4 bludj damage bonus vs rats
they wouldnt stack. So it would do
d6+str
+5 vs rats
if it was a +4 fire damage bonus vs rats
the enhancement would stack with the bonus.
ooc: I hope at least. Im pretty sure thats how it works.

OK I checked this as best I could by making a similar weapon and then enchanting it with Greater Magic Weapon and it seems to work like this:
For attack bonus only the highest number works (either enchantment or attack bonus bonus!)
For damage both the racial damage bonus and the enchantment bonus show up so for example it says for damage:
+4 vs. Rats
+5 Physical
Now although it says both things in the character screen I don't know whether it actually applies both types of damage. I couldn't tell because when hitting creatures of that type it lumps it all together and says you have done e.g. 34 physical.
Hope that helps.
