Avlis goes for SIX. Ferrell server live. Welcome Jordicus!

Post by Orleron » Tue Sep 02, 2003 2:54 pm

For the last couple months, there's been a super-secret project going on. It was so secret that most of the Avlis Team didn't even know about it. Most of the original planning for it took place face to face at my pnp game. And now, it's ready for initial use! Please welcome Jordicus to the Avlis Team. With him, comes a new server, Ferrell!

Ferrell is the land of the halflings. Sunny hills... hobbit holes... pleasant country living... if it's a hobbit's life for you, then this is a must-see! The server is at port 5126, and I'm sure you can guess the password by now if you know the others. If not, send a message to a team member.

Though Ferrell is FAR from finished, it has all the main national and capitol city areas laid out, and possibly even a couple places for some initial mindless hak'n'slay, though there are no quests there yet. Jordicus is still improving the areas and will continue to do so throughout his stint here with us. Sometime soon, I will start to sick some of my quest builders on the place to get it up and running.

So go out and explore! Avlis is becoming more and more in-depth every day, and we hope to continue the progression for a long time to come!

Great news .... Merago will be very pleased !!!

Looking forward to seeing the land of the "stunties" !!

PS Presumably we can get to Ferrel from one of the existing servers - or is it a case of server hopping ??

Yes you can get to Ferrel from the Wilderness through a new trans, look at the map of Avlis if you want a hint as to what side of the wilderness its on.

Ferrell is located NW of T'Nanshi. You can get there from T'Nanshi (Wilderness Server) or from Elysia. In either case, go NW. :)

Yes, it requires the "mystery hak" that was announced in the world development thread a while ago.

EDIT: the hak is in the usual place on the FTP site. Anonymous login, public downloads/hakpaks

That's funny. I saw the borderlands several days ago and was wondering if something was going to happen with that anytime soon. Woohoo! :D Can't wait to check it out!

The borderlands are the border between M'Chek and T'Nanshi, where the war is fought. Doesn't have anything to do with Ferrel, which is northwest of there.

It's nice, but I'm going to have to renounce my citizenship if we don't get a pub in there pronto.

Easy there killer. Pubs and other buildings are on their way, but this all takes time to develop. New servers are always pretty empty for a while. Hells, we're still filling in Le'Or and Deglos (well, and the Wilds, and Elysia, and, oh fuck, Mikona too).

At least the... various flora (ahem)... of Ferrell can sustain you for now. :D

Went there last night - it is AWESOME.

Wren wants a home there (Theoretically, it is where she grew up).

The Gnomes and Dwarves can keep their dark, the Elves can keep their treehouses and the Humans can certainly keep their overcrowded city.

Now the Halflings have a Home of their own

A HUGE thankyou to all those involved.
