New Avlis Fanfiction site opens at http://fanfic.avlis.org!!

Post by Orleron » Thu Jul 10, 2003 2:35 am

Ladies and Gentlemen of the community.... It is with GREAT pleasure that we announce the Grand Opening of our new community fan fiction website! The purpose of this new site is twofold. First, it acts as a repository for stories written by YOU. That's right. You get to create any kind of Avlis story you like, or a story about another campaign world if you obtain proper permssion. Stories will be collected there for anyone who subscribes to the site to read, though you do not have to be a member of the site to submit. Second, the site will act as a main financial support for both Avlis, Mythos, and any other world that links up with us. As you all know, the cost of running a PW is most definitely greater than zero! By joining this site, you have an easy way to contribute a small amount of money for a good purpose on a voluntary basis, and in the meantime, you get some good reading in the bargain! Still, even if you are not an avid fiction reader, you have a very easy donation method at your disposal now, and we encourage you to take advantage of it if you are looking to contribute.

Joining the site is simple. Just go to the address: http://fanfic.avlis.org Sign up by clicking the subscribe link on the lower left. Once you are going through the process, you will be given an option to choose which community you want to support, currently either the Avlis or the Mythos community. Pick one, and some of your proceeds will go towards that community. Then log into the site and start reading! It's that easy.

Special thanks goes to the site builder, Manuel the White. Without him, this valueable resource would not be possible.

Thank you all, and I hope to see your stories soon. I've got mine on its way too.

Ok - I did everything required - but my username and password that paypal gave me appear to be invalid. (when I hit the page to enter the user name and password that paypal gave me along with the user name and password for the site - it gives me an error message) Any suggestions?

Hi, folks.

If subscribing using an eCheck, there may be a delay of up to 4 days before your transaction completes. Once completed, return to http://fanfic.avlis.org/finish.php to finalize the process.

Thank you,

Although this has not yet been reported, if you are using Firebird (previously Phoenix) it seems to time out when going to Paypal. Strangely enough, Mozilla works fine which means Netscape will work fine as well.

I know there are few Mozilla/Netscape users in our community (and even fewer Firebird users) but hopefully this will prevent some headaches.

Heh, thanks for the notification. I'm a Phoenix user (hadn't gotten around to updating yet) so it's nice to know.

Well Im no storyteller and my typings shite.

There are a few things Im particularly looking out for

The Life and Battles of Kharak Hammerstar (an abridged version)
Legal Reasonings by Kaelyn MacCaddor
Avlis Bar Guide by Jerry Cornelius

Hmm maybe there is room for a self-help book

"How to be a complete idiot" by the Tal' Rathes?

Does it have to be fiction? I would love to read how experienced roleplayers approach character creation and development...a kind of beginners guide/Rpers masterclass/behind the mind of [insert chars name]

Anyway thanks for making this available and thanks for everyone who contributes.

Categories can be created if the people submit them and there is a demand for them. Right now Ashlynn's just trying to fill the categories we have already!
