I am going to make a new topic for timestop since frankly NO it does not work correctly. Unless it is has changed from 3e to 3.5e then it is right broken on avlis.

But on Greater Belts.

1. they are the only thing that allows a front line fighter to survive some of the battles with the monsters of Avlis. I am sorry that the mages can screw around like they can but it far more critical that the poor slob fighter can survive a few rounds with a half-fiend warrior. And a lesser belt is nice but not significant when you are getting hit for 25+ hp per blow. Even half-orc bandits get 15 hp blows past a lesser belt. There are far too many things on avlis that can take me down in less than a few rounds and I have over 200 hps.

2. greater belts are not common....or if they are that is news to me. Even lesser belts are not common.

3. removing premonition would do more to solve the problem then screwing around with the belts. Premonition is not even a real D&D spell it is solely inplace to allow mages to survive the SP campaign.

4. Chosen is my axe. It is a mundane axe with a +x vrs evil bonus. That +x vrs evil does not stack with bless. I see that the bless bonus has been added to my BAB but my AB vrs evil does not show any increase.

5. a greater belt can be circumvented. Where it is bad is if the person you are fighting has 3 and changes them as you swap weapons. Gee how tacky can you get. If the halberd, scyth, and morning star worked properly then they would automatically negate the belts anyway.

6. strange but true spaming knockdown does not always work, for me to get a reasonable chance with a knockdown I need to time it for the first two of my blows, knockdowns with the last two are not even likely to hit since it gives a -4 to hit, and I am likely to be in powerattack mode anyway (giving me a BAB of +11/+6/+1/-4). Not only that, there is a targeting bug where if you do not click properly you just stand there, and the higher the number of clicks you make the higher the chance you get that bug...and just stand there.

7. never forget criticals, if it take 21 blows 3 or 4 will be critical and those will seriously deplete the premonition HP limit (90-120 hps total from the 30 hp greatsword wielder so the premonition will go down sooner). Personally with a halberd I normally can only get 25 max damage without divine favor (that only lasts a turn). But at my level with divine favor I will blow through a premonition anyway. I have 4 ways to negate or remove the DR spell ... but a regular fighter would not have those available.

8. It would be better if each belt came in 4 flavors as it is now you go from insignificant to overwhelming but it would be far better to have 5, 10, 15, and 20 versions of each of the belts.

Never understood why fighters felt like they should be able to run into a group of heavy-hitting foes and survive. Or anyone else, for that matter.

When someone in the M'Chek Army says "I need an archer's belt to survive in the Warzone!" I smack them and show them how to hide behind a wall.

I survive just fine without a greater belt. The trick is having high AC and trying to use terrain to your advantage. And killing opponents in the right order, concentrating attacks, ect.
Gilkin> ouch. how often do you roll a 20?
Cath> once every 20 rolls?

"Chosen of Gorethar" is Kaelyn MacCaddor's favorite weapon. Can't remember if it's an axe or a hammer or what.
