Interesting new persistence features added to Avlis
Through the magic of NWNX, the Avlis Team has constructed some interesting scripts. The first script allows for persistent death corpses. On Avlis, when a character dies they leave behind a death corpse with all their gear inside of it. After respawning, the player must run from the respawn point to their corpse to retrieve their gear. However, if the server were to crash while you were doing the "naked mile", you would lose all of your stuff. Those days are over. In the event of a server crash, all of your stuff would be remembered by the database and automatically given to you again upon your next login to that server. Restore requests are now a thing of the past! The second interesting invention is that of persistent merchants. We are now testing a merchant prototype that remembers everything in his inventory persistently between server restarts. The merchant is also programmed via the database and an in-game DM configuration interface to determine what he will buy and sell. So not every merchant will buy just anything as they will with the default NWN merchant code. Another interesting feature of these merchants is that they try to accumulate wealth for themselves. The merchants do not have infinite money, but rather a persistent reserve. A given merchant will remember what the most money he ever had was, and he will always try to keep 20% of that amount in reserve. So if buying an item will bring him below that 20%, he will not do it. It will be as if he had 0 gold on him. This will act as a nice gold sink for the economy that functions a lot like the Federal Reserve System. Later additions to the crafting system and player sold items will augment this.

Well the bad news is I died
But the good news is I got to try the new death scripts... they're bloody awesome! I love the one click looting, it will save many invisible potions when there are enemies around.
Also, I dont know exactely when the new crafting system was implemented, but that too is excellent, keep up the good stuff Avlis...

A very interesting article,
is there a possibiity to get infos about your deathcorpse system. I use your NWNX2, HCR 5.5 and ATS on my little pw for our guild and my players where lucky when they don?t loose stuff after a server crash.
Maybe, can you explain your scripts to the public ?
many thanx in advance, Mikel
