I have played PnP D&D and ocassionally DM'ed since the red, blue, green, black, and gold (any one want to be a god  ) boxed sets. I gues that make me a D&D geek for the past 22 years now since I was eight and was given a pre-rolled elf (fighter-wiz) character. WOW...in retrospect while it feels like yesterday, it really is a long time love affair I have had with this game. ((BTW anyone know of good groups running games in the Joliet area of Illinois? I am moving there soon))

I was spoiled rotten in my PnP days. At the college I attended, our club had at its peak 200+ members (second only to the Crewing club in number). We had a unified world not unlike Avlis with up to 14 tables of game cells playing in tandem. We had interem GM's that would see the players through mini quests to transit between Lands (GM Tables). We had weekly council meetings that unified and ballanced our systems. Most of our house rules and exceptions were worked out through the release of second edition.

We ran D&D sanctioned events at GenCon for about 5yrs.

Wow! we were all pretty wacked *chuckle* but had tons of fun.
Smile more, It makes those taking advantage of you nervous.

I play in a 3.5 DnD game every Tuesday night with Goldenclaws, ReallyStupidGuy, Silverbrooke, and a few others (I don't know their board names). I have been gaming with this group since 1996. My peeps are the best!
