This is in regards to the AC boncus skill points in Tumble usually gives you...there is no AC bonus for the +8 Tumble it seems.

Thanks again!!
not sure about other skills, but for Tumble you only get the AC bonus off of your natural skill ability. bonuses from items do not affect your AC

Tumble as it applies to armour class is a special rule. It only counts the number of ranks/skill levels you have, it does not use stat or item bonuses.

Same goes for spellcraft bonuses to spell saving throws. It only works on the ranks you have put into it not on any bonuses. presumably the same for any other comparable skills as well.

I always thought that only your actual ranks in Spellcraft should count but the last week i read a thread in the Bioware boards that stated that it's the final score what counts.

One of my Avlis characters has 8 ranks in Spellcraft and a +2 bonus from INT and she's getting +2 to her saves against spells. Also, i have tested offline bonuses from skill focus, epic skill focus and items, it seems that everything counts as long as the character has at least 1 rank in the skill. So you get +1 to your saves against spells per every 5 points in your final Spellcraft score, that's how it works in NWN.

EDIT: I am pretty sure that Spellcraft didn't use to work like this, perhaps it's a change introduced with HotU or one of the latest patches. I haven't tested the effects of Courteous Magocracy but i suppose that it's taken into account as well, since it adds a +2 to your final Spellcraft score.

Really, thats interesting. I am sure that it did used to be just ranks that worked. It may have been changed now (which I think would be shame as just ranks makes sense to me). I may do some experimenting myself to see how it works.

Yes, i am also 100% sure that only your ranks in the skill were the important thing. And i agree, it made more sense.

I suppose that epic skill focus in Spellcraft has become now a must have for every high level caster... +2 to all your saves against spells.
