Life is never as bad as you think it is, although that doesn't help at the time.

Yep, that statement just about covers it! Best I've heard for a long time.
"When is this project to start?

I, uh, accidentally did not see that it had not started yet, so tonight i killed all the elysian merchants on the list, and most of the wilderness ones."

is there too little?????

Post by Mathr » Sat Oct 25, 2003 7:39 pm

hello all,

new around here, mathr is my name, nice to find this place and i hope to join in soon.
what i am asking is is there a amount of time that is to little ie. only 2 hours a few nites a week and a little more on the weekends. the reason i ask is i am a member of daggerford and have been since there was less than 200 members and i found that the size of there world (small compared to avlis) and the amount of time my life gives me to play ( i'm a single dad of a teenager and own my own shop very little time) online was too little to really fit in w/ the players that were on hours a day. in the end i stoped playing cause i felt i was 1 not contribting to the comunity
2 i was unable to keep up w/ the world as things moved fast on a plotline i mean.
i hope this makes sence and i get some real feedback on this as i dont want to take up band space if my limited time is not going to allow me to exprenice real emeraction.

thx mathr

Hey,

There's no such thing as 'contributing too little' by not being online all the time. Feel free to play as little or as much as you want, there's no rules or obligations on 'having' to play a certain amount of time.

I'd say I used to average maybe 1-2 hours playing a night, sometimes more at the weekends, which stepped up a bit when I became a DM. Although I still have more than enough time for the other things. Both enjoyable and... not so enjoyable. :)

off topic a bit, but related...

I think that Avlis plotlines tend to be drawn out over a long period of time, more like there are a lot of small plots that one can manage to get in on everyday, and over the course of a month or longer there is one ultimate plot going on that relates to all the small ones.

So you can really play 2-5 hours a week and have your character be involved in a great plot, miss other small plots but at the same time you still had a a big/small/MEANINGFUL! hand in the plot as a whole.

I think thats a great thing about Avlis.
