3D editor?

Post by Mabus » Thu Aug 30, 2007 4:14 pm

Anyone know of a freeware 3D editor usable for editing/creating NWN characters? I can't afford 3DStudio Max...and the free trial for 9 isn't working on my computer. Says it's incompatible with my processor...or something.

Download GMax, if you acn still get it. It is like a scaled back version of 3DMax, and produces modfels in the same format.

There used to be tons of tutorials on NWN Vault too. I found it fairly intuitive when I used it, though I never got enough experience to make much of anything at all.

Poser ($100 I think?)
+
GIMP (GNU)
+
Blender (GNU - better than 3DSM apparently, but not sure if there's anything other than a linux version)

Not sure what sorts of things have been added to blender - but you might even be able to do it all for free and skip Poser all together. Sorry but I haven't been keeping up much on this front.

If you're developing content for NWN2, then your only option at this time is 3DS 6-8. 3DS9 changed the API so is not currently supported by Expotron (Granny plugin). If it's NWN you're after, you can grab GMax for free from TurboSquid (registerware):

You'll also need NWMax:

Sadly, NeverBlender, the NWN plugin for Blender simply doesn't keep up.
