Attention all: New Haks

Post by Jonezie » Thu Jun 29, 2006 8:45 am

Ladies and Gentlemen,

In preparation for 1.67, you will need to download a few new files. These are the new avlis, copap, and universal haks, as well as the 1.67-compatible version of the CEP. At this stage, all you need to do is follow the links below, download these files, and unzip them to your NWN/haks directory. Do not update NWN to version 1.67 yet, there will be another announcement when we actually update versions. I repeat, DO NOT UPDATE NWN TO VERSION 1.67 YET. You will still be able to play on Avlis without downloading these haks until we update to 1.67, but afterwards, they will be required by all players.

The files:
CEP 1.53 here
CoPaP 4.6 hak here
Universal 4.6 hak here
Avlis 1.4 hak here

Thank you,
The Avlis Team

Is this avlis_main1_4.rar?

Also, on the CEP 1.53 download page, it does say...
CEP v1.53 only works for those that have NWN v1.67, Shadows of Undrentide, and Hordes of the Underdark. Please make sure you have all three before using this patch.
which says don't install CEP 1.53 until after you update to v1.67. Is it safe to extract it to the hak folder?

just logged in to test after installing all the new haks (including CEP 1.53) and it works fine. I believe the warning is for builders only. :)

The CEP 1.53 patch is just one additional hak that overwrites some entries in the older CEP haks. As a player, it'll only be used if the mod you're playing on has that file in its hak list, which, at present, the Avlis servrs do not. In short, it won't get in the way of anything.

Well, I haven't been playing for a some time and I haven't checked this tread befor NWN asked me to update so I already installed the new version 1.67 and after that I installed all the other versions posted on this tread and I am still getting this massage:

"Client and Server versions do not match"

Please could someone tell me what I could do to start playing again on avlis because I like this server very very much and I like to start playing again...?

with regards,

The fix is easy.

Your client is at 1.67 now, regardless of what haks you download. You'll need the 1.67 to 1.66 revert patch from Bioware.

Download it here: http://nwn.bioware.com/support/patch_revert_hotu.html

Good luck.

Fix

Post by Missian » Sat Jul 01, 2006 9:42 pm

Thanks for the tip Xenophile, but I haven't been able to fix it with your tip due to my being stupit, because in the download for the revert patch is said that one shouldn't extract the patch to the hak map, but I was plain stupit so my version is still 1.67....

Do you perhaps have some other hint for me so that I can try it once more or am I fucked.... :(

Thanks in advance

Well have just made a complete system format, and installed all the files back on it, so I was hoping I would get it right this time but no.... I still get the message "Server and Client versions do not match" But Now I have done everything ok.... so I have a question...

What is the version needed to play on Avlis servers.... because I have v1.59 on the left side of my NWN launcher.... but I have downloaded the file: .....cepv152...... so It is suppose to be version 1.66 right.....?

Please can somebody help me solve this problem, I haven't got enough experience with computers updating and patching....

Please, with regards,

Missian

You need to be at version 1.66. See below:

Dont hold your breath. Remember, they said "in preparation". It very well could take quite a bit more time. Only the modders know just how much for sure.

I wouldnt be to hasty and DL 1.67, is all I am saying.

Peace,
Michael K

FWIW, those of you that have been on a while and have cluttered \hak folders may be interested in this. I went into my hak folder and deleted the following files, without any ill effects:

avlis_main1_2.hak
avlis_main1_3.hak
copaphak4_4.hak
copaphak4_5.hak
universalhak_4_3.hak
universalhak_4_5.hak

That's 164,418KB of files, with the big bastards being the universalhaks. Like I said, no ill effects on my side -- logged on to Elysia just fine -- but you may want to wait for confirmation from Jonezie or someone more knowledgeable than me to make sure it doesn't Fook something up. I've got backups just in case... 8)

You can delete all those haks, but you'll be unable to open any older module, so if you're a toolsetting person, don't delete them.

Hey, I said "...wait for someone more knowledgeable than me."

Ok, ok ... that's just about anyone. Anyway, I just deleted them from lappy, as that's where I have storage limitations. The desktop is my toolsetting machine, and it has gobs and gobs of storage space, so I left them there. Thanks for the clarification, though, Krator.

Minor problems since update:

1. They run as if they just crapped themselves - I hope the override for that is fixed soon.

2. I miss the open hands override - does it still work?

3. The Bowstrings are nice - no more override for that.

4. My DM Avatar uses a head model which got removed several patches ago - I used an override to return him to his original bearded form. Now I can't work out which files are needed to do that. I copied all of the files with "head" in the name from my old override folder, but he is still bald and tattooed - horrible.

Can anyone advise which files I need please? What format are the required filenames?

Thanks.

While I am about it, a big thanks to all those who worked so hard on the update. Great work guys. :good:

With the latest patch BioWare fixed the issue which made it possible to become headless (usually seen using the changelings ability) by simply selecting one which exists for you.

So to get the head you like you'll have to override the one that shows up. Only problem is that it'll change the appearance on everyone who have selected that head as well.

Pre-Hotu animations are here: http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=ha ... ail&id=251

Seem to work fine

*edit* From the instructions:
UPDATE: One of the files in this ZIP should be tossed away; it's the file called 'a_ba_casts.mdl' as it will override the Whirlwind Attack animation. Throwing it away will not affect any other animations, so you will still keep ALL the original ones + the Whirlwind animation this way.

Hands override still works: http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=mo ... ail&id=311

*there is one with all the CEP hands as well, but they don't seem to work without modifying a hak.
