Try replacing the avlis.blackdagger.net part of the server name with 67.85.230.46

Same cause, different fix applied on our end to mitigate.

Replacing the dns name with IP address on my shortcuts works for now

if you like to use shortcuts to connect to Avlis from your start menu and can't be bothered editing all of them, or even a few, try this... it works

Windoze users
1- edit with notepad --> c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

2- add the following line at the bottom of the file
67.85.230.46 avlis.blackdagger.net
important note - the IP address and name are seperated with a tab!!!

Save the file.

Linux users
You know what your doing... weldone on using a superior OS also.

To test whether you can resolve this just ping avlis.blackdagger.net

Why don't we have the Avlis servers listed on the Gamespy menue? That would make it a lot easier if we didn't have to do the Direct Connect.

Wait, I use the menus (well, favorites too), never direct connect. They're listed under COPAP - Avlis - Servername... so just scroll down past the "A" servers in to the "C"s.

Because of the LAG

Using Direct Connect reduces the lag.

Using what contorted logic, how do you derive that Avlis lag is caused by GameSpy's lobby service? This is absolutely and unequivocbaly false. Please refrain from commenting on things you do not understand.

As has been correctly pointed out before, Avlis is listed on GameSpy under "PW Story" with a Server Name of CoPaP-Avlis.
