Avlis Team takes new batch of team members on board

Post by Orleron » Sun Jun 27, 2004 4:47 pm

Our most recent round of new team applications has now been processed and the results are in! There were many many great applicants, and we took quite a while to look over each one individually. It's my great pleasure to welcome the newest additions to the Avlis Team in no particular order:

Kilrathisly - Apprentice DM (kilrathisly@avlis.org)
Alustriel - Apprentice DM, Area Manager (alustriel@avlis.org)
doulos - Area Manager (doulos@avlis.org)
rorrim - Quest Designer (rorrim@avlis.org)
Earandel Senessa - Quest Designer (earandel@avlis.org)
dougnoel - Quest Designer (dougnoel@avlis.org)

To those that applied and were not given positions at this time, we appreciated your interest! For various reasons, the decisions were made but that does not reflect how we feel about you as players! We hope you continue to grow and play on Avlis, and additionally, do not forget that there are many other CoPaP worlds out there who may want your help! Consult the world leaders of those projects to see if they have work available.

Welcome, and thanks for your hard work in advance. I'm very pleased to see so many quest builders in particular, and look forward to playing what you make!

First, let me say Congratulations to all!

Secondly, it may be just me, but I do not recognize all the names here. Perhaps a brief background on each, maybe even listing some of their more recognized characters played (if there are some), might help me better feel a connection to them.

Thanks.

Some of them are probably BioWednesday people.

Thank you to everyone for the warm welcome and the opportunity to help design quests for the World of Avlis. I am honored to have been selected.

I'm a professional coder, mostly in C and assembly. I primarily write system-level software for one of the big network equipment vendors. It's nearly a guarantee that your packets are passing through one of my routines if you are reading this :)

I've been working in the toolset for quite some time, as both a staff member elsewhere and then on my own campaign created for friends. I'm looking forward to applying my skills here.

I'd rather keep my character separate from my DM'ing. When I'll play my character I want to be able to play it as it is...a character and not be seen as a DM playing a character.

Here's a brief background : I love Dungeon & Dragons and I love Avlis !

Here ya go !
When you break it...Fix it, if its working, don't touch it !

I can't speak for the others, but I started about two weeks before the BioWed announcement. :) Sadly, chances are you have not seen my characters in game, as I have spent more time scripting for Avlis than playing. :P I started as a sub for Sylvan on the first of June and have been working on the crafting system ever since. Hopefully you will see some of the fruits of my labor in game soon. ;)

My coding experience is for the most part amateur, although I have done some professional scripting/coding in my job as a Quality Assurance guy. I'm also a board lurker who sometimes voices his thoughts, as you may have noticed if you read a certain thread. :)

My gaming experience includes 16 years of PnP, most of that DMing. Currently I'm running a 3E campaign in my own setting and a Cowboy Bebop campaign using Guardians of Order's excellent Big Eyes Small Mouth game system. Although neither game meets with any regularity since my daughter was born last year. :)

I have been eating a lot of flan recently because I really like it and I found a Jello version of it in Wal-Mart the other day. I have also come to the conclusion that ice cream sandwiches are Chaotic Evil after reading one of the more recent threads on alignment.

Thanks for the welcome, glad to be aboard. I hope to be doing wonderful things in the future that will enhance your enjoyment of the game, especially in (but not limited to ) the areas of crafting and persistent items.

Doug :)

P.S. I also smile a lot. :)
