Reminder about HoTU upgrade

Post by Orleron » Tue Dec 02, 2003 3:31 pm

Avlis servers will not be upgrading to HoTU immediately. Instead we will wait about 30 days before we switch over. This is so we can keep track of any bugs that might pop up. So if you are going to buy this and install it, you will NOT be able to play Avlis until Bioware patches SoU to version 1.33 and we install that patch, which will happen within a week of it coming out. If there's any other questions you have about HoTU, feel free to do a search of this website. There's tons of posts that people have already made while discussing it, and there's much useful info there.

If I may have a request - please do not switch to HotU until all localised versions are available. Living in Poland has this one shity consequence we get all games updates a few weeks later. Patche's are better, there is only a week difference in most cases.

I'll try to learn when the localised HotU release is to appear.

FYI, SOU was released in late June. Avlis began upgrading in Mid-August. It was nearly 2 months from release to upgrading. They have always shown concern for making sure the game is available worldwide and that the player base has had adequate chance to get a copy. When we switched to SOU, ORL posted up on the boards to make sure everybody had a chance to get it. We can be sure he'll do the same with HOTU.

easiest way..download the english version of NWN, SOU and HOTU from the internet..yes im condoning piracy here...then buy copies to get a cd key in your local language. CD keys work with any language version regardless. they also work to verify safedisk once the english version is installed. Then, you can happily stay in tune with Avlis.

I just bought HotU in the Netherlands. That's an english version of course, but that's the standard here AFAIK.
So much fun,
yet so little time to enjoy it.

Oh, the sweet touch of the CD-ROM, the smell of freshly printed paper...AAAAHHHH!!!!

Lovely...

I suppose to keep on playing on AVLIS i can't install it until AVLIS upgrades? I always get confused about what combines with what and what doesn't...

Until the next patch comes out, and Avlis upgrades, people with HotU installed will not be able to play on Avlis.

Well there is a workaround for having HotU installed and still be able to play on Avlis.. just copy your SoU folder (COMPLETLY) to somewhere else on your HDD.. then install HotU.. it will upgrade only the folder from where you copied SoU and the other will remain intact.. no conflicts or anything.. just when you want to play SoU go into your "copied SoU" folder and execute the EXE.. Simple as pie

My copy arrived today - thankyou Amazon

It does look fairly demanding in terms of hardware - and disk space

One minor problem - I could not find a CD Key printed anywhere. Is there supposed to be one?

Your CD-key should be printed inside the front cover...

some of the SOU copies printed the CD key onto a red sheet inside the box. Problems arose when people unwittingly tossed the red sheet out with the trash or otherwise lost it in the scuffle of opening the box. Perhaps something similar has happened with HOTU? Anyone have information on this?

Good News - lift out the disk (which I hadn't done yet, as we are not ready to install it). Under the disk is a sticker with the CD Key on it. What a clever place for Bioware to put it - exactly where you would look for it - *disengages sarcasm mode*

I agree something beautiful about a fresh copy tainted with anticipation.
Hell even comes with a fold out CD holder for all the disks heh heh.

A little bumpish thing here for those who don't like reding through threads and still want to play SoU and HotU at the same time.

P.S.: Isn't the CD holder they give you so nice of them :)
