Obtain & Install NWN EE
Several vendors offer NWN EE right now.
We have published NWN EE installation walkthroughs on the Avlis Wiki for:
You can find recent NWN EE discount offers here:
- NWN: Enhanced Edition On Sale
https://avlis.org/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=141699Copy Your CD Keys and Register Your Player Name
1. Copy your nwncdkey.ini file from your old NWN v. 1.69 installation to your NWN EE installation.
Instructions here:2. ONLY THEN connect to NWN EE multiplayer.
- GOG: https://wiki.avlis.org/Avlis:EE_GOG_Galaxy#CD_Key_Transfer
- Steam: https://wiki.avlis.org/Avlis:EE_Steam#CD_Key_Transfer
3. You will be prompted to create a NWN EE player name. Enter your pre-EE player name (what used to be known as Gamespy ID or GSID), that you use on Avlis.
The player name is case-sensitive (e.g. Orleron is not orleron).Authentication
At this time, Beamdog uses a combination of player names and CD keys for authentication purposes (refer to this Beamdog forum post and Beamdog FAQ #39).
Avlis uses an additional authentication layer. Essentially, we compare the player name and NWN v. 1.69 CD keys to our old (pre-EE) player data.
BOTH your player name and your NWN v. 1.69 CD keys need to match our records, in order to allow access to your old (pre-EE) Avlis characters.
Note: If you enter your old Avlis player login and find that your player name is already in use: [1] Check spelling (case-sensitive), [2] make sure that you've followed the instructions to copy your old nwncdkey.ini file over correctly, [3] PM avliswebadmin with the details.

Q: When can I access Avlis on NWN EE?
A: Hopefully by Monday, October 02nd. Database migration alone can take all day (the latest test run took 17 hours). We will communicate an update when ready.
Q: What do I need to copy from my NWN v. 1.69 installation?
A: [1] Your nwncdkey.ini file. [2] Character Journal .txt files in the "localvault" folder. As the name suggests, these are local files and are NOT saved server-side. You will need to copy them to your NWN EE installation location. [3] As well, we recommend that you copy your "portraits" folder.
Q: What about custom heads and voice sets (override folder)?
A: Content from the NWN v. 1.69 "override" folder, such as PC heads and voice sets, will NOT be needed on Avlis NWN EE. If you have already copied that content to your NWN EE installation location, please remove it to evade conflicts.
KEEP IN MIND
Gorgon and the Avlis NWN EE migration task force have done everything possible to ensure that characters from other CoPaP worlds who have chosen to remain on Avlis can still login, & that shared CoPaP content still works as intended, just as well as Avlis custom content. Please note that we still have a few issues to address. Watch this space for related updates (player action required, server downtime required, exciting new things that EE has made possible, and more). See you on Discord (Chat with the Team)!
