and thank heaven and the Team for regular character vault backups. It could have been WAY worse, folks.

there may be a few characters that are still an issue. we'll fix those on a case-by-case basisArandil wrote:Hmm, what happens when people who were on another copap world come back to Avlis? I've just done that and, after a couple of tries, I now have the same bic as I had in Rockhome...but..what if thats a corrupt one? I didn't crash the server, so I assume its not?

Haha, but Mouse still gets the RP value of giving it to you after claiming it.Vichan Lyonsen wrote:...the only thing i'll miss is the Redgate Spear, that I cant even use because of the way I got Detect evil (replaced a weapon feat), but because V comes form Redgate was worth RP stuff to him.

This is actually a good point...after a server goes down, please people give the server a chance to get back up and stabilise...when it happens to me I wait until there is at least 8 people logged in and the ping is 250 or less.. otherwise i leave it alone...too often i see the server go down, as soon as it comes back it is pinging in excess of 2000 and 1 or 2 online,, then it crashes again and the same thing repeats itself.Gordaan Of Garagos wrote:Then we hunt you down and kill you![]()
I reckon a lot of corruptions come from the "lvl 1 CE Barb scenario" where people log in direct when the servers are crashing/restarting/lagging like shite... but of course that is mere conjecture.
Due to this happening once before, I don't direct connect anymore, until I check via gamespy to see that the server is stable, cos I ain't waiting a damn week to get a restore!

Also just use some common sense... if you were on a server with 30 people but you were just walking around or chatting, wait 5 minutes or so before coming back. If you were in a group fighting somewhere but you were the weakest member of the party, wait a few minutes, let the stronger ones get on first. If you were crafting wait to come back and wait a little longer to start up again (not even going to get into the "don't load up the table" argument). If you know you're going to be dead and in your afterlife anyway, wait a couple of minutes. Once your party does get back, if you aren't in immediate danger wait to start buffing until it looks like the server has settled (I imagine the graphics for spells are mostly handled client side, but the action still has to cue and the info still has to be sent to those in the party/nearby). Don't immediately start inviting everyone back into the 12 person group you had when the server went down. Etc., etc., etc.Vichan Lyonsen wrote:This is actually a good point...after a server goes down, please people give the server a chance to get back up and stabilise...when it happens to me I wait until there is at least 8 people logged in and the ping is 250 or less.. otherwise i leave it alone...too often i see the server go down, as soon as it comes back it is pinging in excess of 2000 and 1 or 2 online,, then it crashes again and the same thing repeats itself.Gordaan Of Garagos wrote:Then we hunt you down and kill you![]()

Now ive heard that the gamespy ping report inst entirely accurate.. thats fine.. but you can defintily tell if its running well enough...dont just start slamming the server the second it appears on the gamespy list.
