Re: Welcome Adam to the World
Thank you everyone!
Lucidic and I are very happy (and Sweets is extra happy to be a big sister at last!) to be parents (with each other!) of our son. The last two weeks since we've been home from the hospital have been very chaotic and full of appointments. Happy to be on the other side of all of that and Baby and I are both doing very well.
He was born on Monday, May 2nd via emergency c-section due to a prolapsed umbilical cord, which is science-y lingo for saying my body decided to try and birth the cord first which was very dangerous to the baby. Thankfully I was already at the hospital "just in case" as my pregnancy had been considered high-risk for a few reasons (including two prior miscarriages). As such, when my water broke and the problems started near immediately, I was in the OR within 10 minutes and Adam was delivered within 20 minutes.
It was certainly a wild ride of emotions and I ended up writing a thing about it* in honor of nurses appreciation week as well as to work through it all myself. At the end of it, I came away with a deep appreciation for my medical team and an even deeper love and respect for my "best in slot" partner-for-life.

Happy Father's Day to all persons and father figures as applicable.
Lucidic authored a follow-up piece with his perspective on our son's birth. (He really is just the best.
)
Enjoy!
