Yeah, the only time I ever rush back is when I am the number one hardest person in my group. In my case it is particularly important as I am often the one suing th bard song, unlimites blesses and assorted other buffs to keep people alive, but if I am not in a life or death situation I am normally one of the last back.

Seems everybody got screwed.

I only lost about 1000XP, 20,000 gold and a LOT of items.
The only one I cannot replace is the wierd vial of blood someone gave me... I didn't even use it yet, had no idea what it was for...

Oh well... if it was important, someone will give me another one :D

Other than that I think it could have been worse.

In the end, I hope this never happens again, tho that may be asking much, At least I do not have to start from scratch...

I'll add my .02 to everyone else's....

Amen to the Team! Yeah, I lost the most XP I'd ever earned in one day playing on Avlis with the FEAT expedition, but I didn't lose my character and I didn't lose the fun I had wailing through the Ferrell Underburrows. Lesse of two evils is the way I look at it.

I do wonder though.....and if this is a stupid question or I haven't read the FAQs which would have the answer I seek....then just flame me and get it over with but I gotta ask: if (god forbid knock on wood) there's ever a total wipe and our chars go completely, what's our alternatives? Are our chars saved somewhere off server so they can be given back? I'd love to keep mine on my own hard drive but I realize that's not an option 'cause there are those out there who'd abuse it to load them up with all kinds of unearned stuff. So what's the checks and balances on the char storage?

Like I said, the answer is probably out there but I'm just askin....

You can save your character off and onto your own machine - it's the save option under the Options menu somewhere. You can then use this character in the single-player games, and presumably on any servers that allow for local vault characters (not many I should imagine). I guess in the dire situation that the entire server vault is lost, you could in theory use local vault character files to recreate it, but I doubt the team would do this for the reasons you mention.

Oh well...

Well, having to take everything from 36 hours ago on Sunday was kinda crappy. But hey, this stuff will happen, its inevitable. When you have a world as big as Avlis, problems will occur. I think you should all just be glad that you have guys working really hard to keep Avlis running, and having to put up with all the s**t that us players give out to them when crap like this happens. So yes, it sucks that this happened, I lost a load of XP, gold and a few cool items, but thank you Avlis team for fixing the problem and getting Avlis back up and running. Now and can keep playing and get back that Xp, gold and those items...it will take time, but its still damn fun!!

hey, we keep backups of the vault. In fact we have backups going back to almost day 1. But as always we are looking into ways to keep things like this from happening.

The main issue was, by the time we found the problem, over 24 hours had passed and the bad vault had been backed up, so the only way to get a good restore was to goto the backup from the night before.

The main issue here was time. You have to understand we do this for fun, RL and work come first, which means it might take 24 hours to address a problem, if the people needed to fix it are out of pocket. That being said know that we addressed and fixed the problem as quickly as could be and we took the route that best solved the problem....in this case we did a restart from the last clean backup.

now without going into details about the problem, which I will not, know that steps have been taken to keep this from happening again.

Had to happen on the day I earned more Xp than I have in weeks and more money than I think Ive ever earned in one day but those are the breaks. The team did the only thing they could in a difficult situation. I still enjoyed the play and thats what it's for. Luckily I've been able to replicate the major trades I did and nothing important was actually lost. If anyone who bought things off me at the 4A on Sunday wants to redo the same purchases then let me know.

Ya, but notice how many basically say "It sucks, but thank you Team for figuring it out and doing the right thing." Not too many crybabies.
