Shard Information - OOC

Post by Croton » Sun Mar 04, 2007 1:27 pm

IT IS CRITICAL THAT ALL PLAYERS READ THIS AND UNDERSTAND THE DETAILS

Drum roll please *the roll of a snare drum is heard in the background*

As many of you have no doubt read about and guessed, there is a story coming to Avlis.

The story involves shards.

That is all the IC Information you'll get OOC.

____________________________________________________________

However, there are OOC guidelines to handling these shard items that PsiOmega and team have been working on for 3 months now, and it is important for ALL PLAYERS who may be involved in this story to understand this.

Shards can not be handled like regular items. They can't be bartered, sold, dropped, or destroyed using the regular item control features you're used to.

Instead, there is a New Crafting Menu Section to do this.

If you go into the radial crafting menu, choose "Special Functions" in the first conversation menu, then you'll see "Shard Options".

Depending on if you have a shard or not, different options will appear.
  • 1. TRADE SHARD
    • A. If you have a shard, you will see an option called "Trade".
      B. This option allows you to give a shard to another PC, or DM possessed NPC.
      C. You can select the PC by moving close to them, and you can cycle though the shards you possess.
      D. The receiver of the shard has an option to accept or reject the shard.
    2. LOOT SHARD
    • A. Another option is called: "Loot"
      B. If a PC is death planed, other PCs may take shard(s) from them using this option.
      C. The dead PC does not get a choice.
      D. Just as a note, Shard items are not on the Dead PC's Corpse.
Some miscellaneous notes:
  • 1. If lag is high, it may take a few seconds for the scripting to work. Be patient and wait, do not over click.

    2. You are not allowed to put these shards in bags. Do not ever attempt to put a shard in a bag. There may be loop holes that can be exploited, but don't. If you find an issue, report it.

    3. You are not allowed off world with these items in your possession. Scripting is in place to take shards from PCs who try. The CoPaP staff is aware of this. Again, things may have been overlooked, so please, if you have a shard, don't try to go off world. You may loss the shard for good.

    4. Intentionally forcing any item out of your inventory by having a full inventory is an exploit, Shards included. If you have a completely full inventory and accidentally attempt to unequip a shard, the shard will be automatically taken from you, so, do not do this. This is your last warning on this.

    5. If you find a way to drop, sell, trade, destroy or otherwise beat the coding, report it to PsiOmega immediately. It is a bannable offense to find a flaw and not report it.

    6. For everyone who obtains a shard(s), you will initially receive it from a DM possessed NPC, and then PC to PC is possible after that. Both the PC receiving the shard, and the PC losing the shard must report this via PM to their Guild DM sponsor. The team is going to keep track on where all the shards are via the database, but we would like a manual backup.

    7. If you portal off world and lose your shard items, or if you accidentally unequip a shard item into a full inventory and loss it, report it to one of your guild's DM sponsors, including which server your were on when it happened.

    8. You will notice various negative effects when certain actions take place. Those are intentional.

Lastly, no one should have any of these items yet. if you did, you would know it. If for any reason you have one, please PM me with the details ASAP.

Good luck, have fun, and we hope you enjoy.

About point 6:

If your Guild does not have an (active) sponsor, or you are not in a guild, please PM Croton or mail the Team when you get in possession of a Shard, so we can keep track of it manually.
