Avlis server bank is stable and running A-ok
There has been a small degree of chaos for the past couple days due to some catastrophic hardware failure on our part. Immediately after this, the servers were not running as best they could. I would like to let everyone know that we are up to 100% function right now, even better. Elysia is running on a 900 mhz machine instead of a 333 mhz, and our new persistent room rental system is safe and successful.
Tomorrow I should be speaking with a representitive from the cable company to set up a business class cable connection for us. After we talk, and after he does a site survey and connection hookup, Silk and I will have to move the Avlis server bank from its current location to the new place. That will mean Avlis may be down for a day or two. It is possible that some of the senior team members may host bits and pieces of Avlis so you all don't keel over from withdrawal, but we make no guarantees. I hear chocolate is a good replacement for these things. Eat lots of chocolate. Yeah.
I do not know when the servers will go down for the connection change, but when they come back up, things will be much faster. After that mess is all over with, the team will be focussing even more tightly on fleshing out the existing landmass and adding to Le'Or T'Nanshi and Deglos.

ahhh
Massages do work.
Especially at the Romini Inn... no wait that's in game. fek
Thailand massages are even better. Fly here while Avlis is down, soak up the sun, and yes, show love to the sig other so as to gain playing time points when it comes back online...
I'm getting married next Tuesday. Please hold off all connection switches until June 10th and 11th, cause my fiancee refuses (tsk, tsk) I play NWN on our wedding day/night nor on the day after. Bitch. Can you believe that?

BTW - Chocolate is fattening and not good for you. I understand that even Sex has its downside (supposedly).
The only safe healthy option is sitting quietly in a darkened room, playing on Avlis. I know it will all be worthwhile, but please don't be gone for long - especially not the 6th to 9th June, as I am on leave then

Life is never as bad as you think it is, although that doesn't help at the time.

- As you gaze unknowingly into the seemingly infinite depths of the optics of this altogether passionate embodiment of insatiability, you experience a gradual realisation that the heavily-embellished vocabulary scattered lavishly throughout the sentence you are currently reading is indisputably nothing greater than a generous ration of masculine bovine faeces.

I didn't say it wouldn't or couldn't happen, just that it likely won't. So I wouldn't count on being able to kill yourself 15 times and not have it show up to haunt you later either.Ashlynn wrote:Heh. In that case, I may see just how many times I can die in the course of an hour. Heh, there's a remarkable freedom in knowing what you do may not have any consequences.
"Hi, Peregryne!" *slap*
Wait...

I know what would be required to make changes to the character files stick, and I'm not sure if the people who are going to host them, will bother with that much work or not.
*thinks about two days without Avlis... and remembers the amount of Avlis releated work he has to do...*

I dread the thought of two days without Avlis
However, at the moment, Elysia is unplayable. I click on a transition, I wait and suddenly, I am halfway across the area and running towards the transition. I click on an NPC, wait, the dialogue comes up, I wait and the connection times out.
I arrived in the Elf Gate field and thought the people had been killed again. I clicked on the transition to go north and suddenly I am back near the new house, running towards the field. The farmer is back and all is well. I go north, click on the farmer there, wait and timeout again.
Although I have a dialup connection, I can see no evidence that this is any slower than usual.
Very depressing after a long, boring day at work.
