I want YOU.... to be a DM.

Uncle Orl wants YOU! If you have what it takes to be a DM, send an email to staff@avlis.org. We will reply by sending you an application to fill out. If you pass, you're in! It's as simple as that. Here are the things we look for in a DM:
* 21 years of age or over

* Have played Avlis for at least 6 to 8 months or longer

* Have had a reasonable presence on the boards so we can see your "posting personality"

* Have had DM'ing experience prior to this, whether on another PW or in pen and paper

* Have never applied as a DM here before (we usually reject folks for a reason and that reason is usually fatal unless we tell you otherwise!)

In the last couple months, the focus of Avlis has shifted tremendously from area and server building to story development. We have tried immenselly to turn up the number of plots and the amount of DM interaction, and we are still trying. If you find DM'ing to be fun, we could use you.

The Avlis community is a circle. Players get material from DM's and each other. The DM's are an integral part of keeping the circle turning. Without them, we cannot keep this world as rich and developed as it is now, and that is why we are looking for a few good avatars to hold some wands for us.

This is what I heard where reasons to not get accepted as a DM:
  • * the person doesn't have enough DM experience,
    * the person has a watchlist entry,
    * the person doesn't seem to know Avlis well enough (has only been playing a few weeks or makes a mistake about Avlis lore on his app or incomplete application),
    * the person seems like they wouldn't actually have the time to DM (too devoted to their PC or to another world),
    * the team just gets a bad vibe from that person because of things they've posted or things they've done ingame, and they don't think that person would mesh well with the team - such as only wanting to be a DM to to gain power/ego.
I hope that helps anyone thinking about joining. Good luck.
