Avlis Downtime

Post by Aloro » Wed Nov 23, 2005 5:52 pm

Bioware wrote:BioWare's websites, the NWN Master Server, and NWN Online Authentication will be offline from Wednesday Nov 23, 2005 10pm to Thursday Nov 24, 5am MT as we perform network maintenance.
As a result, Avlis will be offline from Thursday 0430 GMT until around 1200 GMT.

There was a conversion error in the post I copied this information from. Good catch. Fixed above. MST is GMT-7, and so Avlis will be offline from 2130 MT until roughly 0500 MT, which is 0430 until 1200 GMT.

Could we do the same thing we did the last time? Make Avlis local vault for the bioware downtime?

I propose Fight Club. Since Themi's server is down at the moment, I have an old version of the mod up: mercuric.net:5121, password AvlisFightClub.

Code: Select all

<Zebranky> (Also, that would piss SO many people off. ;)
<Nob> That's why it's such a great idea, Zeb.

Yah, sure I'll start a localvault copy of Ferrell on 5130 right before we shut down the others - PJ

Didn't bioware put some new spiffy thing in in the last patch that stored players last cd key locally and hence masterserver wasn't needed?

Yah, they did. What it does is continuously appends player, cdkey records the nwnplayer.ini. Remember Bio doesn't code for PW's so they're not prepared to deal with 1000's of logins. "Might see some slowdowns" was the official statement. "Completely unplayable" was the statement by some other PW ops.

*thinks those other PW were possibly a single server and then looks at the list of Avlis/CoPaP servers and cringes*
