I'm looking at the files for the patch not the full install, but Im thinking the readme refers to full install.
step 1 says .. dl these files
cep1patch.hak
cepanatomy.hak
cepbaseitem.hak
cepcreature.hak
cepplace.hak
cepportrait.hak
ceptexture.hak
but the list I have in the winRAR doesn't include all these, except one. I guess its because I have them already and they are not changed (looked in hak folder they are there). It does list
cep1patch.hak
so, I guess that one needs updating.
step 2 is the three hak files in the HotU folder, no problem.
step 3 is the new tlk, no problem, tlk folder for that one.(edit: this file also is unchanged)
Ive also got one on the list called
cep_crafting.erf
whats the deal with that one?(edit: erf subfolder for that, doh!, but it is also unchanged)

Because of me updating the webserver, the link posted by PJ might be unavailable for the next 30 minutes or so.

Thanks guys. I tried updating on my Linux box and it all seems OK.
I copied my existing nwn folder and then updated the copy, so now I have the choice of 1.65 or 1.66. This is much easier than on the XP box, as there are no Registry entries to worry about, so I could be sure it would update and run only the correct folder.
Both versions still run, with one of them offering me all of the remote sites which have updated (and not letting me into Avlis) and the other with most remote sites greyed out and still logging in to Avlis.
I ignored the 'missing' cep haks which were listed in the readme file but not in the patch - assuming they had not changed and so do not need to be updated. This seems successful so far.
I always dread the thought of patching NWN, for fear it will not work because I will have screwed it up somehow. A huge sigh of relief when it is done and it still works. No offence to those who create the Haks - it is my failure to follow the update instructions I worry about.
Just the XP box to deal with now - I will leave that until next week

I noticed the haks listed in the patch readme but not in the file, so I downloaded the full install. What do I care about bandwidth?
Anyway, as I extracted I noted the byte size and modification date before overwriting. They all had different modification dates, but only one had a different byte size. The "first" one, whichever that was.
Take this as you wish.

Uuhm about that cepv152_patch.
I read the readme file and I know I need the HotU map.
My question is wenn I place them hak's into the hakmap is says I already have them, only all three some kb's less?
What should I do?
Wierd I seem to have everything already just smaller then the new files?
I havent got any idea what you guys are normaly talking about but I"m trying to keep up.
ANYONE?

Ok, I decided to experiment. First, I downloaded the patch for 1.52. Upon examination, as others have noted, most of the extra cep haks it mentions are missing (cepanatomy, cepplace, etc.). Rather than bother myself about whether or not they had changed these files, I downloaded the full install. Just a couple to ten minutes with DSL, no sweat.
I installed per the instructions. I also dropped all of the new Avlis server-side placeholder haks in the hak directory. Then I logged on to Elysia. Good news -- no problems that I could see. At least I didn't get rejected for non-matching haks.
Now I DID leave all of the original haks in there as well. Way I see it, I can still play Avlis for the few days to a week that it takes to go 1.66, then all I have to do is hit the update button to be back on when we make the switch.
So if you're waiting, IMO no need. Install away.
Disclaimer: Your computer may vary. Buddha is in no way liable for you fecking up your NWN game, not being able to log onto Avlis, going crazy and climbing a water tower with a high-powered rifle on a shooting spree.

i don't know if it matters but rather than download the patch i decided to download, and replace, all of the 1.52 haks..... put them in my hak folder (as well as the new avlis haks) and everything works fine.
i am unsure about this crafting erf (edf whatever), and so i did nothing with that save put it in an empty folder.

Re: Preparation for 1.66
Are these going to be added to the hak list for builders, or can we just use the current list with the latest files (and the cep1patch152.hak at the top of the cep stuff)? Being placeholder files, I assume there isn't anything us normal folk will have access to anyway. The player housing thread seems to have the most complete Avlis list here.PlasmaJohn wrote: The hakset contains 9 haks avlis_ext_1.hak - avlis_ext_9.hak. To better organize some of our server and development resources, we need to employ some 'server-side' haks. Unfortunately clients still need a placeholder hak. Therefore, please copy all of them to your NWN/haks folder.

I don't think you need the erf. They go in an erf folder, but are only required if you are using the Toolset to make your own modules.afterhours wrote:i don't know if it matters but rather than download the patch i decided to download, and replace, all of the 1.52 haks..... put them in my hak folder (as well as the new avlis haks) and everything works fine.
