Even more haks

Post by Jonezie » Tue Apr 26, 2005 7:15 am

There's 2 more haks up for download. As of the next reset, they will be required to play on Kuras. You can get them here, rar'ed up into one convenient package called Dracon_temp.rar . Simply download the file, and extract both haks to your NWN/hak directory.

As the name suggests, these are temporary haks that allow us to have Dracon in Kuras. They won't be a playable race until the next CoPaP-wide hak update, but there will be Dracon NPCs wandering around Kuras very soon.
Huge thanks to Gimlor for making these for us.

How big mate?

Cause my HD is maxed out and gonna have to make some IC choices soon on which servers to play on.

My DMing on Catara takes up HAKS and the south takes up hugh amount of HAKS aswell.

Hmm.....

On the guest login I have only 1.9GB of space and the back up HD is max :( .

So whats the total HAKs for Kuras cause I might have to OOCly move up there to create some space for DM bits and Avlis.

ICly I have a reason to move.. Me PC is from Tyedu.

Before anyone says "Buy a new HD" its not my PC and I have to sort something out at some point when I have the lolly... (Lolly = CASH)

Extracted around 20 MB I'd say...

These ones are a little over 18 Mb once extracted. That brings the total for Kuras haks up to...18 (these) + 40 (TM-Tilesets) + 13 (Fortress) + 11 (CCS) = 82Mb.

Plus you need all the CEP ones and Avlis_main, copaphak and universalhak as well, of course.

The reset has happened, so you need these haks now to play on Kuras.

Xeo, are you using Windows XP or Windows 2000? If you are, do the following:

Open your NWN folder
Right Click the HAK folder and select "Properties"
Click "Advanced"
Tick the box that says "Compress contents to save disk space".
Click ok then ok the other window.
If it asks what to apply it to, specify "Apply changes to this folder, subfolders and files".

That should, going from the size of the HAKs compressed normally, cut down the HAK folder by 60% or more.

That's the problem... the British still don't do euros :P
But you should be able to get a new drive under the 45 euro.

No, you sure as hell won't be able to get something for under 45 Euros... heh.

You're looking at £60 for a 80GB drive or so.

I didn't say it was anything fancy.... 40 GB 7200 rpm, 41 euro. But that's in the Netherlands, YMMV.

Ooh, I see prices have come down. Can't say I recommend the DiamondMax 9 series though.

*shrugs* cheap and cheerful. Aria is a really good site though. reccomend to anyone, have absolutley no problems with them at all. They are also a sight lot cheaper than dabs, who messed me around something chronic.

I think the problem is that he can't put a new HD into a computer that doesn't belong to him...

How about an external USB HD? Would that do the job?

Would work for NWN, but unless the machine is USB2 or Firewire capable, it will be unbearably slow (USB1 and USB1.1 are NOT something you want to run external drives on), not to mention the drive and caddy itself will be expensive.

As a Brit I find it hard to work out what the colloquialism was. My guess was either "cheap and cheerful" or "messed me around something chronic" :-)
