no, the first part of the move had nothing to do really with lag.

Right now some servers (Deglos) might be a little slower because they were put onto a small machine.

Now that the new servers are up the next step is to move the old servers to the new location and get them up and running. Then lag will be 1000% better.

Players logging in and out will always cause some lag I think...just the nature of NWN.

the important thing is (from one who can't play at the moment) ... has it improved the lag situation ?
No, the lag situation is the same or worse- there was some terrible lag when there were just 3 people on Mikona (including myself)- but I think that is just temporary. Also some quests in Mikona are broken (not sure if that's related to the move), which were not broken before. (do you stop getting the fed-ex quests when reaching level 11?)

Exellent!
Now if only you all could invent some sort of time rift to have done all this yesterday and surprise us with it so we could praise you again... except we wouldn't have praised you the first time because it wouldn't... *is attacked by a time llama*

Seriously though, good job.

Nope I cannot log on either. Not to worry I guess they'll be on soon.

Great work...6 servers to play with 8) You're a God!

Edit:
Just tried again and the problem appears to be with Gamespy!!

If you can't log on, then clear your favourites and then set them again from the main list.

The DNS changes need to propogate and your favourites are stored by IP; not domain name. So favourites will be pointing to the old (now dead I assume) servers.

If you use a shortcut and can't log, then your ISP probably hasn't got the DNS update yet -- use the main GS screen.

If you can't log on from the main GS screen, then I don't know what your problem might be.

EDIT: Oh yeah, great work guys! I'm sure that was a huge job and it was seamless for me -- went to bed, got up, saw post about servers and logged on as normal. :D

Just one thing to check, make sure Windows isn't cacheing it, bring up a command prompt or the Run box and type "ipconfig /flushdns".

One other thing to note, if you normally connect from the Gamespy list and don't see the new servers due to the DNS thingy, you will still be able to direct connect to the servers using the IP with the port. Someone else was having trouble earlier while we were chatting in IRC and this suggestion worked for them.

Oh...and good work guys. Enjoy your sleep PJ. :-)

many, Many, MANY thanks for the hard work. I am mostly clueless as to what goes on "behind the scenes", but my guess is that I am underestimating 10-fold the amount of effort and work that it takes you and the rest of the team to pull off Avlis. It's definitely making a lot of folks happy! :D

:( Only a matter of time before Bioware realizes this, buys the team off and turns this site into a dot-com.

Wouldn't that suck!

Seriously, I love the work the team has put into this world. Keep up the great work. You guys ROCK!

Any word on the status of vaultster? Just curious if it's back online yet or if you're holding off a bit more.

Thanks.

Next time Elysia rolls over it should start up. If it hasn't by the time I get home (~12hrs from now) I'll bounce it myself.

It took a little more than just restarting Elysia, but I'm happy to report that I was able to successfully visit and return from Tairis'n?dur.
