New forum - Player's Idea Box

Post by avliswebadmin » Mon Dec 10, 2018 2:01 am

Once upon a time there was a thread created that the community could submit ideas and suggestions to. Fifty five forum pages later, the team has decided to turn this thread idea into a new forum, the

When you have a change, idea, or suggestion, feel free to start a new thread. This new format will allow other player input and discussion as well. The original thread has been moved to this new area and locked for reference.

However, with this new great power comes great responsibility and

A copy of the new Player's Idea Box forum rules
The team has decided to migrate the Player's Idea Box thread into a full forum AND to allow Player discussion on threads in this new forum.

What is the purpose of the Player's Idea Box?
- Players have ideas for things and want to bring them up to the team.

What types of things can be discussed here?
- Changes to areas, systems, features, etc
- New areas, systems, features, etc.

When you want to suggest something, start a new post. When you want to comment on a post, have at it.

BUT certain rules apply:
1. Just posting ideas does NOT mean it will be implemented.
2. Keep it short and to the point: clearly state which system/area/NPC/etc that you are speaking about and then concisely describe your idea.
3. Do a search on your idea before posting: if its been proposed previously, add your thoughts to the existing post, you do not need to start a new one.
4. keep it nice and friendly
5. do NOT post endless lists of haks/models/code
6. Be patient: Many of the ideas require extensive coding, and the team has a very limited volunteer staff, whose activities are dictated by a combination of 1. What interests them and 2. What needs to be done.

If you are asking yourself whether threads will ever be locked, the answer is "maybe".

- In general, moderators will lock threads for the instances where either: 1) Can't Be Implemented because the engine won't allow it, or 2) Won't Be Implemented because of a variety of reasons (would unbalance the game, doesn't fit the Avlis lore, etc), or 3) the thread is violating one of the rules listed above.

Some of us like tinkering with the Avlis Systems & Tools, others work on haks or improving the NWN server environment, yet others would rather stir up quests, dungeons and the like, others still help out Avlis Player Housing, then there are the Avlis Bug Tracker fixers and those who provide Quality Assurance (QA) for all of the above. If you think that's already a long list for such a limited volunteer staff, you'd be correct. It would be ideal if we could each focus on what we do best but the reality is, we each perform several types of tasks and aim to do our best anyway. If you think you can help, send a forum message to the Staff group!

I will not take, I will have.
