The needed files page is borked.

I've downloaded every file on the wiki and I'm still missing files.

Specifically:

copaptlk_4_7.tlk (I changed the one on the website from copaptlk_4_8.tlk to the one listed and it showed me the rest of the files I'm missing.)
ctg_genericdoors.hak
universalhak_5_0.hak
copaphak5_0.hak

This is while trying to log in to the underdark server. There are probably a lot of missing files for other servers as I recall I used to have to download a bunch for the different servers. (I'm a returning player after a long absence.)

I've reverted the change to the needed files section on the wiki until the new haks go live (per nh4's request). You should find what you need there now.

Just a reminder to download them now if you haven't yet.

We've updated the avlis_main1_8.hak once more to ensure everything is working properly, please re-download it at your soonest convenience.

Is there any way to cut the downloading time on these? Even though I’m on a campus network, it is still taking at least 10-15 minutes, and a lot of the week, I really don’t have that time to download that many haks/tlk files. So anyone have any idea on how to maybe make the download time less than 10 minutes?

Not much can be done about that really. The files you need are essential and it takes time to donwload them. My connection is only about 2.5Mb so it takes me a lot longer than those of you with 10 or 20 Mb bandwidths. Of course these are a lot better than the old Dialup was.

The only alternative you have is if you know someone else who is on Avlis, preferably someone living close to you, who can burn a DVD for you with all the files and post it to you (or ever hand deliver it if you know each other). I have known people do that in the past.

slight problem with that though...my computer is required to have Macafee antivirus protection, and that shit sucks ass. so i don't leave my comp plugged to the internet at night, to help keep my laptop free of those ass hole hackers that have nothing else better to do. now, if I had a router and Panda Antivirus, then I would leave it on, but seeing as how thats not the case, i'd rather stay safe than sorry.

cant do AVG either, cause that and macafee will conflict and screw up my laptop...its required that my laptop has macafee if i live on campus, and since its required for me to live on campus my freshman year....*trails off*

Is it the right .tlk file?

It's saying 02/07/09 as a modified date, which is older than the _4_8 file I have (19/10/09).

Can I make a request?

When most organizations release software they include the version in the archive/installer file name. I know you are doing things like avlis_main1_8.rar, but if you make a change to the contents of that rar archive, can you rename the updated one to avlis_main1_8_1.rar or something, so we can easily tell that there is a newer version? I don't mind when you keep the haks, erfs, and stuff constant because that requires code changes, but the zip's and rar's would have a minimal impact on the developer and would help the players a lot.

Just my $0.02

Changing the archive name is possible, but versioning the hak requires we rebuild all the modules and publish new ones to the live server. :(

Javaforge also has inbuilt versioning. Everything on Javaforge is the latest up to date files.

@ Calzier, the tlk is the right file the date on Javaforge is the last time the file was updated which is different than the date you downloaded it.

That would be the City Forest Rural tileset, but... I don't recall the _b versioning...?

If possible, someone might want to sticky this topic at the top of the portal landing page.
