Do not update to 1.69
It seems the 1.69 patch has been released, but don't update to it yet, as the servers are still running on 1.68.
Info about the patch can be found here:

If you've already updated, the revert patch can be found here:

Re: Do not update to 1.69
Is there a INI tweak I can perform to tell NWN not to check for updates? Just so I don't do something like clicking yes when I am not paying attention to the screen and logging in.

Re: Do not update to 1.69
I did all sorts of playing with the registry and setting files between 1.67/1.68 and I'm afraid I was unable to remove the nag screen in any way and still be able to login.

Again, the revert patch will work if you accidentally (or intentionally) upgrade. Me, I'm patching up right now to check a few things...

Re: Do not update to 1.69
well, my two cents.... which is abotu what it's worth
the new patch has a TON of EXCELLENT stuff in it... so I DO hope Avlis intends to use it, but I understand that it's really a MASSIVE amount of stuff to work through, and the Staff (Bless'm!) seems to always make sure all teh new patch stuff soesn't kill the things already in place. Which takes a while. So while I'd like to encourage the patching, I hope we can all be patient and nice while Staff works on it, so we don't annoy them when the process is a LOT of work for them.

Re: Do not update to 1.69
Madkat been preparing for some time now... it's more a question of when CoPaP as a whole will be ready to upgrade than when Avlis will be ready. I think we're as eager for this one to go in as you guys are.Timdalos wrote:well, my two cents.... which is abotu what it's worththe new patch has a TON of EXCELLENT stuff in it... so I DO hope Avlis intends to use it, but I understand that it's really a MASSIVE amount of stuff to work through, and the Staff (Bless'm!) seems to always make sure all teh new patch stuff soesn't kill the things already in place. Success will be lovely, but you will have to go out and get it! Failure will invite itself in.

Update nag screen every time you log in getting you down? Me too, so I did a bit of haxx0ring to remove it.

Save to your NWN folder, rename the existing nwmain.exe to something like nwmain.exe.standard, then rename the downloaded one to nwmain.exe. You'll need to switch back to the original one when you update. Enjoy!

Re: Do not update to 1.69
If someone were to be remodeling some player housing, would it be best to wait until after 1.69 goes live or will it not change anything in that regard?
It's chaos, be kind.

Re: Do not update to 1.69
We're not doing anything until 1.69... if you're submitting a remodel, I'd strongly suggest you wait, just for the new stuff you have available to you.

Re: Do not update to 1.69
I would suggest waiting for the update too, only because 1.69 will have new content. With new content comes new ideas & new desires. As for building, if you do the old "two copies on NWN" trick and update one of them, you'll get an idea of what's waiting.Katroine wrote:If someone were to be remodeling some player housing, would it be best to wait until after 1.69 goes live or will it not change anything in that regard?

Thanks you two! I will hold off on starting then.CPU wrote:I would suggest waiting for the update too, only because 1.69 will have new content. With new content comes new ideas & new desires. Any new news on the update? I had to update due to my involvement on another server and am waiting... watching... pondering.

If the waiting gets to you, I'd suggest doing this method. Since you already have 1.69 installed, I would suggest making a copy of the NWN folder, rename it to NWN69, and then run the revert patch from Here on the the folder named NWN, and then simply swap back and forth (via renaming).
If you have the room on your hard drive, it really isn't that much of a hassle.
As for the update's completion, the best answer is it will be done when it is done. There is a lot of custom content that needs to be updated and checked, all throughout CoPaP, not just Avlis. Sorry I can't give you a better date; but like you, I hope it is soon. It is being actively worked on, it is the top priority.

Cheers and thanks for your patience,
Darkfire

Re: Do not update to 1.69
I have something to make the swapping easier. You need to prepare things this way: Have a NWN folder that includes the 1.69 version, and a NWN168 folder that contains the 1.68 version.Darkfire wrote:If the waiting gets to you, I'd suggest doing this method. This small batch file will swap the versions around and will only keep one set of the erf, hak, modules folders as well as any ASKlog.txt and screenshot files. (It assumes that you have NWN installed to c:\program files\atari\NWN)
Code: Select all
rem @echo off
c:
cd \program files\atari\
IF EXIST NWN169 GOTO copy169
IF EXIST NWN168 GOTO copy168
GOTO end
:copy169
ren NWN NWN168
ren NWN169 NWN
move /Y NWN168\modules NWN\
move /Y NWN168\hak NWN\
move /Y NWN168\tlk NWN\
move /Y NWN168\erf NWN\
move /Y NWN168\*.tga NWN\
move /Y NWN168\ASKlog.txt NWN\
GOTO end
:copy168
ren NWN NWN169
ren NWN168 NWN
move /Y NWN169\modules NWN\
move /Y NWN169\hak NWN\
move /Y NWN169\tlk NWN\
move /Y NWN169\erf NWN\
move /Y NWN169\*.tga NWN\
move /Y NWN169\ASKlog.txt NWN\
GOTO end
:end
pause

Re: Do not update to 1.69
You do realize you don't even need a batch file, right?
nwn.ini has the absolute paths for all the folders NWN uses for haks, modules, etc. data that you can just set to your present NWN folder.

ahww right. Totally forgot about that.Nob wrote:You do realize you don't even need a batch file, right?

Still, that way I don't need to adjust all my lovely handcrafted links and shortcuts for servers, toolset, DM Client and such (<- lame excuse, I know...)

Re: Do not update to 1.69
Uh, as long as they are in the same directory (eg: C:\NeverwinterNights\ ) just make a copy of the nwn folder there and upgrade (or revert) one of them. Name the one you aren't using by the version # (nwn169 or nwn168). Then just rename both folders when you want to swap (eg: rename nwn to nwn168, then rename nwn169 to nwn). No copy time involved that way, and yes you can make a very simple batch file to do it. No messing with ini files or shortcuts.
